vm313R May 19, 2016 May 19, 2016 Hi! I'm pretty new to this forum (join about ten minutes ago). I was scrolling through YouTube and found ScareTheater's "The Tulpa Phenomenon," I'm amazed by what the human mind can do, and I think I'm captivated by the thought of making a Tulpa myself. Of course, I have a few questions in my mind before I can continue. Firstly, privacy. Do you need to be in a quiet, serene place where you don't get bothered whilst you create your Tulpa? If so, can anyone suggest where I could go, because I have no privacy here? XD Second, imposition. I'm kind of scared when I think that someone or something that is a fragment of my mind (my mind is still debating if ghosts are real) can do crazy and unnerving things such as looking at me all the time, going violent, or just anything weird that affects me in general. Will this be normal with having a Tulpa? I really need to know. Third, personality (and how my Tulpa will act or 'do its own thing'). If I think of something like my Tulpa will just suddenly have a scary-looking type of bodily, facial or anything physical in general, will my Tulpa manifest as how I suddenly thought it morphed to? Will my Tulpa do things that I think will do it? For that field of thinking, I kind of have no hold of my mind when it comes to thinking of stuff like that; if I think about nothing or something happy, my mind just suddenly thinks about scary stuff and it just pops out in my mind, and mostly are related to people I know. Sorry if my sentence structures are mixed up/lacking something. English is not my first language. Thanks! :)
Vos May 19, 2016 May 19, 2016 Dedicated sessions are usually anywhere from 10-15 minutes to a couple of hours depending on how much time you're willing or able to spend focusing solely on your tulpa. If distractions are an issue for you, try to aim for those shorter sessions so that you can plan out times where you know that you won't be bothered as much, or cut off some of your sleep time to work on your tulpa while you're in bed. Alternatively, creation can just be passive, and some people have made their tulpas through narration only. Tulpas aren't the spooky things that you'll hear about in internet horror stories, really, and it's unlikely that they'll do any of the things that you listed unless you believe that they will. Kind of related, some of the scarier looking tulpas in this community are the nicest people you'll ever meet. With that third question, you're just talking about intrusive thoughts, and the best way to combat them is to ignore them - worrying about it tends to snowball it to the point where it's a lot worse than it was in the beginning. If something pops up in your mind and it's keeping you from focusing on your tulpa, take a couple of minutes to clear your mind and get back into the groove of whatever you were doing.
Hierophant May 19, 2016 May 19, 2016 Firstly, privacy. Do you need to be in a quiet, serene place where you don't get bothered whilst you create your Tulpa? If so, can anyone suggest where I could go, because I have no privacy here? Tulpa creation happens over a long period of time, over dozens of sessions. Unless you're a hermit, you're unlikely to be in a quiet, serene place the whole time. Each session(called an active forcing session, if you want to get technical) can be in a quiet, serene place. In fact, most people prefer it. But it's not required. But you shouldn't just do active forcing sessions. You should also talk to your tulpa as you go about your daily life, which is probably not serene and quiet. Second, imposition. None of this shit is real. If someone tells you it is, laugh at them. If they mention Koomer, point out he was a shroom-taking schizophrenic. If a thought can change your tulpa one way, then obviously a thought can change it right back. What you're describing is called intrusive thoughts. They're not really harmful.
Metatron May 19, 2016 May 19, 2016 As pointed out by Hierophant, this is a long-term "project" (really, a lifetime, hopefully), so in that case life isn't going to be perfectly serene. In the beginning, it helps to have a quiet place to get started, but then you will have to get accustomed to a variety of circumstances, some of them harder and less conducive to tulpa interactions. That's just how it is, though it's all about juggling the different aspects. As for imposition, seeing something does not change the fabric of reality behind it. Yes, you'll be able to see your tulpa and hypothetically speaking, were it to go bonkers, it wouldn't be able to cause physical damage to your or the surroundings. Though a tulpa going crazy to begin with, beyond your control as well, is basically so improbably as to be absurd and impossible. Finally, there will be times where you can't help but entertain intrusive thoughts or what not. Similar to the first point, it all boils down to consistency. When everything else is on-point the other 99% of the time, it's easier to push and fudge it to a 100% by virtue of consistency. Glitches do happen, but they are precisely that: glitches. They are by no means permanent, nor even significant. Thoughts are both cement and plastic, which means that it'll be as enduring or flexible as you want it to be. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." -Aristotle "When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love." -Marcus Aurelius “Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.” -Neil Gaiman "The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried." -Stephen McCranie
