I've been struggling with visulization. I can't seem to get a clear picture in my mind, no matter how hard I try. It's always either very faint or just not there. And how do I impose a Tulpa in real life if I can't even visualize what I want them to look like? Please help!

So... do you?

My host is a writer and an artist, and one thing that helps solidify each new headmate's visualization is to draw us. She doodles us standing around, or interacting with things, or making faces... whatever. Doesn't matter what, as long as it's multiple situations from multiple angles. She puts our image and personality on a few pages, and our form solidifies in the mindspace as a result of that.

So draw up designs for your tulpa until something clicks. Then do it again and again. Make sure to start associating that form with your tulpa. Eventually, you should be able to start visualizing their form without needing the aid of paper and pencil (or tablet and stylus, if that's your thing).

That's assuming you do, indeed, draw, of course. I could be jumping to conclusions.

Some people get the wrong idea and think that they're supposed to actually see something when they sit down and close their eyes. Is this you? If you're doing this, you're doing it incorrectly, because you're supposed to be using your mind's eye to visualize your tulpa. There are plenty of visualization exercises on the forums if you search around, so go ahead and do that.

I'd say that having decent visualization skills is a prerequisite for visual imposition, but it doesn't need to be amazing for you to start.

I recently read about a visualisation technique that involved "looking" at a post box as if it were in front of you.

At first, just try to get its finer details after you conjure up a basic image of what you think a mailing box would look like - such as it resting on a stand or a kind of pole, the mark of the postmaster-general, designation numbers, colour et cetera.

Thereafter, try interacting with this imaginary mailbox. Try hitting it lightly with your hand and feeling it vibrate or shudder at the exertion of force, or touching the grain and coarseness of the materials used to make it. Use all or most of your senses to establish what this design unique to your mind would be if it were to actually exist.

If you can comprehend how to simulate conditions and attributes of inanimate objects in your mind, apply that to your tulpa. Simple and slowly at first, then work in more and more details as you both feel comfortable in doing so.

Best of luck!
