The other thing that may be the reason for our better chance of having dream recall compared to the average person is that we visualize a lot and do a lot of what I guess might be called wonderlanding now, though for TB it was just daydreaming constantly all their life. I think we may have a higher chance of dreaming as well if we are doing that as we fall asleep, sometimes even will result in the daydreaming/wonderlanding turning directly into a dream, like the one LB mentioned she had with Byakko

With as much evidence as you, I could say all antidepressants are fake

based on us, you, a humongous ton of threads on reddit, our experience talking to other patients in hospitals, and even studies we've read, I feel antidepressants basically are borderline fake lol. it seems they work barely more often than placebo and the effect is slight. it really feels like the life changing stories are the exception, not remotely the rule

general anesthesia still knocked me out in 20 seconds

20 seconds?

when they start it for us, they say count backwards from 10, and we don't even get to 6 before we teleport to the recovery room. I think your body does disintegrate drugs lol, or they are using some different type of general anesthesia since there are many kinds. I can't imagine waiting even 10 seconds for it to knock us out. If we made it to 15 and were still awake, would start to freak out probably, based on our common experience

Also if mugwort doesn't work, you can look into calea zacatechichi if you want. it is basically mugwort++ in our experience. You can buy some for like 5-10 dollars depending on amount on Etsy from herbalists that grow it themselves. Make it into a tea by boiling it in water for 7-14 minutes and strain it. If you want put cinnamon and something sweet in it so it's less awful. but that seems to be strongest dreaming thing we've ever taken. We don't use it often or have in a while though. I think it works best if you drink it before bed 3 days in a row as well, though also don't drink it every day I think for similar reasons as mugwort (I think 3 days is supposed to be fine but I'm sure you'll read about it like we did to double check). I think it is used by native american shamans in order to have vivid dreams so they can find guidance and do whatever shamany things native american shamans do.

I can't remember if I was already breathing it when they told me to start counting (I think I was), I also only got to like 6 - I don't think general anesthesia is something you can in any way resist though (not that I understand how you can resist numbing agents, I'm not super fat or anything)

The only reason I didn't list zacatechichi (mexican dream herb) was really that not enough people talked about it when giving suggestions of dreaming supplements. I saw it once or twice in some very large lists of things to try, but otherwise it was weirdly rarely brought up, which makes me suspicious of it. Looking into it a bit more, it seems decent in tea form for vivid/recallable dreams, though so did the other things I'm trying. Also might be slightly toxic for your liver like mugwort, which I figured was the case. Just read someone having tried it and only had vivid dreams on one out of three nights they drank the tea which is crazy (they preferred to smoke it, lol), I feel like if it can not work for anyone then it won't work for me, but idk.

- Oh, well funnily enough, searching zacatechichi on amazon only pops up mugwort (and a couple other nonsense mysticism herbs like angelica root), I guess they don't sell it. It's illegal in Mississippi specifically, maybe they ruined it for everyone lol. I will probably just try mugwort tea at some point

I'm honestly unconvinced on before-bed supplements in general, since early hours of sleeping are not focused on dreaming and trying to induce lucid dreams during them is poor practice, and I doubt most of them last the entire night. 5-HTP and vitamin B12 probably should, but I'd have to try a high dose of 5-HTP and.. I feel like I already tried a ~high dose of B12, but I guess it was only like 1/5 of what was prescribed for a deficiency, so I could probably stand to do more (it's water-soluble)

Hey Lumi,

I wanted to share some experiences I had with you re: dreaming and other stuff since we last talked.

First of all, I'm not kidding, whether it's power of suggestion or just placebo, I don't know but it works for us. When I eat peanuts, yes I know, you said that one time you thought peanuts might have helped, but since then it actually does. When I eat peanuts I have more lucid and more dreams with ny system and it's very significant. Literally do eat a couple ounces of peanuts before sleep and get huge bonus to chances to dream with my systemmates.

I don't drink orange juice or juice of any kind so I can't confirm that one.

I have to admit though, 5 days a week I do take a nap and I never eat peanuts before first sleep so I can't say anything about that but if I have peanuts for breakfast basically then that second sleep will like 7/10 times have one of my headmates with me. Which is nice.

Next subject, I had my appendix out last February and they gave me a lot of different painkillers but the first one after Tylenol(which did nothing because it doesn't) was Ketamine. They gave me two flipping bags of it, no idea what dosage, the parametics did it because all they has was Tylenol, Ketamine and Fentanyl. Yeah, what a choice. I said hell no about the third.

So anyway, they gave me an entire bag of Ketamine, IV and it did not a damn thing. Granted I'm >200lbs but also I usually do not respond to painkillers at all. Like my face and fingers will get slightly fuzzy and that's it. The second bag though, it was very odd. I had pain of 9.9 my appendix was about to go it was the size of a hotdog. And so when they gave it to me, like 20 minutes in at least the pain dissappeared completely. I felt really drunk, but there was something else, like it decoupled pain from discomfort. I felt uncomfortable by 9.9 with a pain of 0, strangest thing.

After that my vision was fine but when I closed my eyes, I saw stucco. Yeah just plain stucco at arm's length, it was sun-lit and beige. That's it. Of all the things to hallucinate, not my system, in fact I couldn't communicate with them at all, like they didn't exist, but honestly a good thing considering, but stucco.

The pain ramped back up quickly back to a 9.9, so bad all I could do was grunt.

They gave me so much other stuff, nothing did crap all. Not even morphine! In fact, morphine was flipping awful, it felt like they set me on fire with no upside. I was literally screaming a few seconds after they gave it to me. The pain wouldn't budge from 9.9 for hours until they finally gave me Tramadol which brought it down to 4.

By then I was so full of crap, throwing up and the worst dry mouth, they wouldn't even give me ice chips, it actually felt better to throw up because at least my dry mouth went away for a few minutes.

Anyway my exgf had to stay with me in the room because my oxygen level kept dipping below 80% and the nurses wouldn't come quickly, she had to stay up all night and remind me to breath. Tfg I'm still good frens with her. A flipping saint.

Anyway, they did the surgery and pain went to 0, didn't need anything after that.

Fun huh?

I didn't read your thread in a while, care to give me tl;dr?

peanuts could slightly increase dream vividness because of the vitamins in them but shouldn't do so more than actual supplements, all of which did nothing at all for us (there's your TL;DR)

that really sucks they had no painkillers on hand, why didn't they actually administer ketamine? it sounds like they literally gave you a therapeutic dose instead of an anesthetic dose?? literalllyyy before it started being used for depression (it increases neuroplasticity) it was used as an anesthetic for decades that was special because it allows you to keep breathing on your own even when knocked out, although risk of vomiting and choking on it (and just feeling sick afterwards) makes it not a first choice

but yeah if they just increased the dosage it would've knocked you out, or at the very least sent you to another dimension where your body was no longer part of your perception

we also are really tolerant to it and have to take a huge dose for therapeutic ketamine sessions (first dose is capped at what our weight allows, second is 30% lower though since it starts to stack) but that cap is literally for THERAPEUTIC ketamine sessions, meaning, sessions where they're specifically trying not to knock you out because neuroplasticity/therapeutic benefits don't increase at all once the dose is high enough to knock you out, but it doesn't become dangerous

well, anyways, we've had a similar not-being-numbed experience when having our wisdom teeth out, worst pain we've ever felt, but at least that one was kind of our fault for not wanting to disrupt the procedure (mouth full of crap) to get numbed more and probably still didn't hurt as much as what you went through, but, we double-warned them that we were super resistant to numbing stuff and to use a lot and they clearly didn't believe us so

edit: oh and yeah when near the highest end of ketamine dose & effects our visualization vision does tend to settle in on a perfectly vivid view of our room's ceiling (the one we are not in, and also wearing a sleeping mask), somewhat consistently too... it does that

it also makes us effectively not plural for the duration (we can only imagine systemmates like you would anyone else, but not truly talk to them), but then, it also makes us incapable of complex thought in general at the peak so that's not surprising

At least we found the cure for tulpamancy.

They obviously didn't want to knock me out. It did help with the check-in because at 9.9 pain I couldn't really answer any questions effectively.
