I almost forgot to tell this little story: I was switched in when the clock hit midnight on New Years Day. 😁 It was Phil's idea; he wanted to give me a treat by letting me ring in the New Year from the front! 💚 It was a very spontaneous idea; it was only about 11:30pm when he thought of it! So I switched in at 11:55pm, said a little prayer for the New Year, and then counted down the final minute! 😊 I didn't really expect to feel anything special but I actually felt strangely euphoric for several minutes! I think it is probably because I think of making it through an entire year to be quite an achievement. Think of all the things that happen over the course of the year, how many difficulties you face both big and small. Sum it up over 365 days (or 366) and it's a lot. So wrapping it all up in a little neat bow and putting it behind you is quite a liberating feeling. 😊

I'm happy to agree! 😁 So many lovely little towns around here, and lots of nature too! When people think of New Jersey 90% of the time they are thinking of the crummy areas right outside of New York or Philly, but most of the state is actually very green and nice! 😁 And southeast PA has tons of charming towns too! 😊 We need to take more town pictures. I guess I'm a little less self-conscious whipping out the phone to take a picture in nature, but I don't think people would mind too much if I took more pictures in towns.

Yes, very true. I'd been feeling a little draggy this week, fighting a cold or somesuch, but this picks me up. Yes, it was an accomplishment to weather the storms a year brings and come out strong.

I was playing around with the AI art generator and on a whim decided to create a prompt that was Simmie's basic description with the lyrics of "Brain Damage" from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon just to see what happens and the results were WILD. I might make a video or slide show of them or something.

I want to share one of my favorite things that Simmie likes to say to me. Very often after I've had a bad day, or felt like I didn't do the things I set out to accomplish or failed at something, she'll say this simple phrase before we go to bed.

 

"We'll try again tomorrow."

Bear gets hung up on worrying about things sometimes and I just have to help him logically through it. Thankfully he only had 1st world problems now, as in completely inconsequential and miniscule.

I just want to say as a general thought that I really, really love being active, engaged, and switched-on. 😁💚 (Not necessarily switched-in! 😆) Responding to several topics is really engaging my mind and it's a real joy to me! 😁

 

I just really like existing and being here! 😁 Life is both joy and pain, but right now, I feel like life is joy. 💚

It's a couple hours after the end of Valentine's Day but I still want to say a few words for Simmie.

 

Having you in my life as my wife has been the most rewarding and wonderful experience. I know that we are not a conventional couple, and we can't share ourselves and our love with the world in the way that normal couples can. But to feel the healing power of your love come from inside of me, that is the most powerful and real thing that I could imagine. I know that I'm not always the easiest person to love; I get distracted, I have silly habits, I make dumb decisions more often than I would like to admit. But your patience and dedication with me fills me with admiration. I wish everyone else could see you the way that I see you. Your strength absolutely awes and humbles me. You deal with greater burdens than most people realize--not least because you're married to me--but yet you remind kind, helpful, sweet, outgoing, and uplifting. If whatever you have could be bottled and shared it would heal the whole world. You are the most extraordinary person Simmie, and it's the greatest honor of my life to be able to call you my wife.
