Gestalt July 5, 2021 July 5, 2021 Oftentimes I will speak with my tulpae on topics of study they take interest in or are well suited for. More often than not, they'll return to me with new insights on the subjects, regardless of whether I've studied consciously. Would this qualify as a form of parallel processing, the assembling, abstraction, and deduction of knowledge in tandem with my own train of thought? My first true tulpa, who I named Fossa two years ago, taught me to drive. I was petrified at the time, having crashed two cars, which had caused what was almost my first tulpa, at the time, to fade unexpectedly into silence. I would later come to understand that certain events and behaviors caused "schisms" in my thoughts, and I could use that disorder to reshape the inner workings of my mind, to some extent. Fossa started off receiving commands when I needed to practice driving, still being new at it. I would ask him to "wake up", and let him take over, at first partially, then entirely, with me sitting on the side. I gave him commands, which would correspond to certain behaviors on the road. "Hold your lane" was his cue to avoid letting someone merge aggressively or at the last moment, to prevent being caught off guard. He had a command that gave permission to pass through traffic, one that gave him permission to weigh the lanes less heavily, as well as a command to take off at high speed. It started off with me just issuing commands to modify behavior, but as time went on a greater degree of autonomy began to show. I started talking to him, but I still couldn't drive myself without his help. I could hear him though, he would step back from time to time, point out opportunities, correct my mistakes. We talk often now, but our best experiences with forcing still take place on the road. I can drive alone now, but I like to switch with him most days. On our best days, we operate in parallel, and even in the lowest end vehicle, we would like to argue that we put on a marvelous show of making it perform, through the boon of expanded perception. We have yet to replicate this phenomena, though several of my other tulpae have their own skill sets - gardening, math, design, etc. Many of these are specializations, I had the skill, and the tulpa has expanded on it. In the case of math, many of us often work in parallel on complex equations to simulate and understand their output. Anybody else have talented companions?
Glaurung26 July 5, 2021 July 5, 2021 I don't know if I would classify it as skilled per se, but I created my tulpa to be kind of my spirit guide, life coach and assistant. She's kind of my pocket therapist and pretty good at it too. Having access "under the hood" of my mind helps a lot. She does have an open offer to be my physical trainer as well. I should take her up on that, I just haven't made time and because of COVID gym stuff has been difficult. She's just kind of my general personal assistant. TurboSimmie July 5, 2021 July 5, 2021 I'm attempting to teach my host time management skills, and how to be better organized in general. I'm not sure what else I can really teach him since we draw from the same pool of knowledge here in the brain. Really, we're learning together, and hoping our two perspectives will cause us to understand things better than either one of us would alone. Guest July 6, 2021 July 6, 2021 Bear's pretty capable, but we helped him a lot when he was having issues. Not for years though.
Guest July 6, 2021 July 6, 2021 So far that i have notice Terra is really good at helping me cook and season things just right to give it a golden/best taste. She also good at board/card games to like cribbage, Hand & Foot and chess(she is much better than me in chess and I'm a decent player). And if i ask she will help me with chemical equations, hard math problems, and even simple ones sometimes if i can't think. I believe tulpas can be the best teacher, mentors, friends, assistants, and basically any role of assist or teaching as long as you believe they can.

I seem to have become better at cooking pasta. 😂 I always forget to set a timer, but when I get around to checking it, now it's like perfect al dente? You're welcome. 😁 Doc (she/her) = Host Franklyn (he/him) = Tulpa

It depends on the context because a tulpa doesn't have to be in parallel to learn something new about a topic. For example, a tulpa may switch in, think about the topic alone, and then compare that knowledge to what their host learned. A tulpa could also think about the topic while talking to you or imagine themselves in a situation involving the topic and share insights simply by revealing their perspective on how they would go about thinking about it. I personally don't consider talking to your tulpa a form of parallel processing, but I know some systems describe it as a weak form of it. On the other hand, a tulpa that reacts or "observes" while you do things and shares their perspective while you are simultaneously doing something I would consider to be parallel processing. Ultimately, I think of having a different perspective and being in parallel or not as two different things. To me this sounds like our experience of "backseat fronting", but it may not be the same experience. When Gray is overwhelmed, he dissociates and my mindvoice becomes louder and my presence is pronounced. I take advantage of this and I tell Gray what to do. Gray is the one moving the body, but I'm the one doing the majority of the thinking. I don't know if your experience is the same thing, I'm not sure if you or Fossa is controlling the body. It could be he's possessing you, or it could be something else entirely. I may or may not have an easier time communicating effectively. This isn't alway the case, but at one point my headmates wanted me to explain something instead of Gray. I usually put more effort into having topic sentences in my paragraphs, but not always. I'm more extroverted than Gray and I have more patience for doing cleaning and laundry. Beyond that, I don't know if I have any other innate skills that are somehow more useful than what Gray can do. Otherwise, we share the same skills and we build off of what we learned. Note: I'm hit-or-miss activity-wise on this account. I may not respond to PMs for awhile. I'm Ranger, GrayTheCat's cobud (tulpa), and I love hippos! I also like cake and chatting about stuff. I go by Rosalin or Ronan sometimes. You can call me Roz but please don't call me Ron. My other headmates have their own account now, but it's outdated and I can't be bothered to update it If I missed seeing your art, please PM/DM me! Illupepsi August 11, 2021 August 11, 2021 I can’t think of any actual skills that Rebecca taught me, since theoretically, since we share the same brain, we should be able to do the same things. However, she has done an excellent job teaching me different ways of thinking that I’d never have without her. For example, She taught me how to be more patient, how to respect myself and love myself when I had completely lost those things, how to better express myself, along with plenty more. But we grow and learn together. There’s still plenty more to learn too. She wants to help me with more, and I know she’ll do great with it. She’s done an amazing job teaching me how to be better throughout the years and I’m really thankful for it. Hey, I’m Illupepsi, I’m the host of my tulpa Rebecca. Drink Pepsi!
Ice909 August 11, 2021 August 11, 2021 Janey: I'd say I'm def more extroverted than Bryan, and I try to help him get over his mild social anxiety but just, popping into the front, initiating the conversation, then dipping, leaving it to him. It's not quite what you're talking about, it's more of a "keep pushing them out of the nest till they can fly" type thing, but it's similar. Zachery is pretty brave I'd say and helped Bryan and by extension the rest of us get over our fear of heights. Mostly. So I guess he taught us that. We've been discussing doing some parallel processing exercises with things like debate and gaming, though we've yet to actually try those. Wait, no, I take it back, we kinda do it? See, in a dnd campaign we play in, Chloe switches in and handles most things, but when we need to think of a solution to something we put all our heads together and bounce ideas off each other. It works pretty well, but it's still an unrefined skill, and we only get to practice once every two weeks. Or do we? I'm confusing myself now. See, we do this thing pretty much daily at this point where we have a full conversation just using the body's mouth. AKA, not using mind voice. We find it allows for more diverse thought processes and helps us discuss topics and hat-not a lot quicker and more effectively than just using mind voice. It's weird, you'd think mindvoice would be faster, but I feel like we just devolve into a blendy tulpish mess after a bit. Verbal discussions remove that, y'know? I'm not really sure if any of that qualifies as parallel processing or not but I feel like it's at least similar, and we're working to make it *actual* parallel processing if it isn't already. Right now Bryan's thinking of a few exercises we could do, like trying to play twewy DS with parallel processing. That method in particular we have tried once before but it was like literally over a year and a half ago. We've also been thinking that parallel processing or co-fronting while playing an RTS like age of empires would help us a lot, sense RTS games always have a lot going on and multiple ways to view things. Lastly, Bryan's been trying to think of some way to practice parallel processing/co-fronting with Kyle while ice skating, since he(Kyle) has been pretty interested in doing that. They figure, and I quote, "Two heads are better than one!" Parallel processing is weird but I do feel like it's achievable, and Gestalt's experiences are solid evidence of it, or at least something close. Hey there, the name's Bryan. In system Re:Body(In order of the rainbow): Sean, Esper, Blinky, Compact, Janey, Kyle, Gwen'd, Gwen, Emily, Rollin, Waynin, Trease, Layy, Justin, Chloe, Zachery, and Elliot. I've been here a while. Much longer than I thought I'd be. Our system was founded October 2nd, 2018. In early 2020, we decided that due to our systems exponential growth, we'd limit who would be active. Now, every month, we do a check to see who wishes to be in dormancy and who wishes to be active. Currently, for the month of April, 2023, we've got myself(Bryan), Janey(Co-host), Emily, Layy, Chloe, and Esper(sub-rep). After over 2 long years, we can finally switch :) Bryan is currently swapped in as host, Esper is sub-rep.
