Question about vocality and hearing your tulpa

   Ok, hello! I just have one question that revolves around vocality, and hearing your Tulpa.

 

   In the early stages of vocality, when your Tulpa said a sentence, did you have to think about it for a bit before you finally get what they said?? This happened and I am just wondering if any one else experienced this! Thanks! :3

Yeah, usually responses like this are common in the early stages of the process, but that doesn’t entirely mean that they’re all you’ll have in the beginning. Alien-feeling responses can exist too, and they are notable in the start.
 

You’ll have less parroted responses and more alien-feeling responses as you gain more experience when talking, regardless of what type of response you get.
 

Just adopt the mindset that you are aiming to gradually eliminate parroting. Make it a key goal in tulpamancy, but when parroting is noticed, don’t make too big a deal of it. Simply move on from it and shift back your goal.

Sorry Ringgggg but this wording is misleading and I know what you mean but this is blarg.

 

Parroting is always intentional and clearly you. When it's unintentional and unclear whether it's you then you can go ahead and assume it to be them. Even 5 years into this, occasionally some thought is unclear or host flavored and for those we can choose to associate with them or not. The moment I associate to it, it's mine forever, originally intentional or not.

Not to my knowledge, but it's been a really long time since Gray started with me.

 

I think asking yourself "Does this response make sense?" is actually helpful. Some people get caught up on if it's them or not, but in reality even generic responses from completely separate brains can sound the same. As long as they respond with appropriate answers, you're on the right track!

There is no correct way to create cobuds (tulpas), and there is no universal approach to cocreation (tulpamancy). Unintentional parroting is one of the mindsets people have come up with while studying their cobuds.

 

Moth_the_fox, it is completely normal to get different advice with different points of view from different people. It is up to you to choose what you agree with or you think feels right and go from there. If you're not sure, feel free to pick one randomly and if it doesn't work, try the other advice.

I'm not entirely sure everyone didn't misinterpret the question. People are replying as if you said "Is it normal to have to think about what your tulpa is going to say before they say something?", which is the topic of parroting

 

But if you meant more directly as written "Did you have to think about what your tulpa said for a moment before getting it", that's not something I've ever heard before, as usually tulpas speak both in words and with attached feelings/intent to what they said, making them highly understandable even if the exact words don't come out right.

 

Either way though, you can improve the experience of vocality by having a goal of what you want it to be like, and practicing together until you guys get there.

Oh, yeah!

 

My tulpa and I have talked about this, and we both agree that there is one part of my brain that does the thinking (we affectionately call it "the thinker"). There is only one of them, and only one of us can be using it at a time. So when Lavender uses the thinker to give a response, I don't have it, so when I get it back, I need to read it over again in my mind to process it.

 

From Lavender: I kind of like it when this happens. It means my host consciousness is listening to me and cares what I say. I sort of have a little bit of anxiety that they don't think I'm real or that they'll stop thinking I'm worth listening to (they haven't given me any reason to believe this, but they're all I have, so natural to be a little worried). So when they pay attention to me, I just beam!

No, no, she's right. Those two words contradicted themselves. Parroting is a conscious decision

Yeah. Anything contributes to the process, but try to seek out the more efficient methods so time's not wasted

That's a pretty fun way of interpreting it, haha

This. It'd just be like knowing the meaning to a word despite not being able to find the words to put that meaning in. Even if what your tulpa says is gibberish, you'd at least have a premise on what they were trying to communicate.
