Lukenstein3D November 7, 2012 November 7, 2012 Things were going pretty well for Red and I (visualization, adventures in wonderland) one day, and then the next day he changed completely. Different form, different personality. Old Red was kind, respectful, patient and understanding. New Red is curious but angry, tries to throw me off a building in my wonderland O_O It was a lot harder to visualize him, and something seemed off, but I just rolled with it. Now it's almost a couple weeks later. I visit my first wonderland where Red and I first started forcing and there he is, looking like his old self but with an insane amount of detail. I can see him so clearly it's like looking at a photograph, yet he's added so many new things to his form that I've never seen before. He looked incredibly depressed, but when I addressed him he brightened up. So now I have two tulpa, one VERY far along but still working on attaining its own mind voice, the (newer) other still very hard to visualize and not as far along. It's... difficult trying to focus on them both at the same time, so I wanted to know what you guys think I should do. Should I force one at a time? Should I go all out and work with both at once (something I've tried that is very hard to do)? Ignoring and destroying one or the other is not an option. tl;dr Had one tulpa, another materialized without my knowing, thought new one was the old one and ignored the old one, realized my mistake last night and now I have two tulpa. ”Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” - Henry Ford
Pinkamena November 7, 2012 November 7, 2012 Well I'm sort of in the same boat as you. I had pinkamena and she was acting up. So I threated her by thinking up a new vinyl tulpa and traits it would have that would make it not be a pain in the butt like she was being. But, I wasn't doing it seriously, but vinyl still ended up existing. I went with mostly not working on vinyl and seeing her as pinkamena's pet. I keep vinyl in wonderland all the time just about. Since they are really new and haven't developed the ability to think much. Its pretty easy just to leave them alone and just think about vinyl enough she keeps existing. I don't think its a long term solution, but short term its been working.
hakase November 7, 2012 November 7, 2012 Why are you ignoring the possibility of ignoring the new one? I recognize that this could be considered morally wrong to do, but if this second tulpa has no value to you and is actively trying to harm you, even if it's only in the wonderland, I feel that it would be justified to get rid of him. If you still don't want to consider getting rid of the second tulpa, have you considered trying to force more pleasant traits onto him instead? "Give a man a Truth, and he will think for a day. Teach a man to Reason, and he will think for a lifetime." -Phil Plait
fennecfoxx November 7, 2012 November 7, 2012 I know you're supposed to treat tulpae as sentient from the start, but look at this objectively and decide if the second tulpa really is sentient. As it's still new, there's a good chance it isn't sentient or is only barely sentient. In that case, you could just ignore it completely and it'll go away. I hate to take that viewpoint, but it's not (as) morally questionable at such an early stage. Deluded myself into believing my imaginary friends were real, then deluded myself into thinking they weren’t. Whatever the case, the OG gang’s still here: Host: fennec (they/them) Tulpas: Alex (he/him) and Kayleigh (she/her) Delete all memories of those who know my awkward past
CyberD November 7, 2012 November 7, 2012 It's sounds awkward but it doesn't have to be. Lots of people on here have more than one Tulpa. Some have three or more and they seem to get by just fine. I have two ideas, both might be bad but who knows. The first is less ambitious. Keep them both, use them to help each other. They can try talking to each other or interacting in other ways. By having two tulpa in the same place you might find that with some practice it helps you visualize them better, as you'll have a point of reference for the Red who you don't have a good picture for yet. Their opposing personalities might help New Red calm down a little, or New Red might be a terrible influence on Old Red. Now this second idea might sound a little stupid but it might yield some interesting results. Why don't you try combining the two of them. They both have the same name so I assume the two are in at least some ways very similar. By combining them you now have a single tulpa to focus on that is both far along and easy to visualize. Of course if it doesn't go so smoothly then you might end up with a tulpa with split personality which would require some kind of inception reference. Whatever you decide to do, good luck. I'm sure other people will have some good ideas too.
intelhunter November 7, 2012 November 7, 2012 if the other one is a nuisance you can always just... off it. its not that developed anyway. Ayo grill how you be?
Lukenstein3D November 7, 2012 Author November 7, 2012 I went with mostly not working on vinyl and seeing her as pinkamena's pet. Since they are really new and haven't developed the ability to think much. I don't know if this would really work, as Rev (the newer tulpa) already does have a personality and has deviated. Something tells me he wouldn't want to be relegated to the status of "pet". Why are you ignoring the possibility of ignoring the new one? I recognize that this could be considered morally wrong to do, but if this second tulpa has no value to you and is actively trying to harm you, even if it's only in the wonderland, I feel that it would be justified to get rid of him. The more I think about it, the more that first option sounds more and more doable. I know Rev is there, and I'm getting glimpses of him now, but the fact that he's skulking around out of sight makes me think he wouldn't be too fond of this. Ignoring him is currently my second option. I know you're supposed to treat tulpae as sentient from the start, but look at this objectively and decide if the second tulpa really is sentient. Yeah, he's definitely sentient, but even Red thinks it might be a good idea to ditch him. Keep them both, use them to help each other. Why don't you try combining the two of them. They both have the same name so I assume the two are in at least some ways very similar. Indeed, they are pretty similar, and I feel like this could work, but I haven't a clue how to go about it. I don't suppose you would be able to tell me how...? :D I probably should have elaborated on the status of the second tulpa (Rev). Actually, his personality is VERY far along, but other than that he's less developed. He's an absolute gun nut, and a couple times I've visited some new wonderland, like a field of green grass and flowers, only to be whisked away to a hectic battlefield with Rev, armed and armored, handing me a weapon, it being obvious that he had been fighting for a while. Since the incident where he threw me off a building (our first night together), he's actually gotten a lot better... but holy hell is this guy one hardcore take-no-shit motherfucker. I've actually grown to like him, and the fact that, when I talk to them both, they tend to say the same things in a different mind voice, I think it might be best to combine them. ”Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” - Henry Ford

hakase November 7, 2012 November 7, 2012 ...only to be whisked away to a hectic battlefield with Rev, armed and armored, handing me a weapon, it being obvious that he had been fighting for a while.... Holy shit. If he keeps up with the whole 'not-throwing-you-off-of-buildings' thing then I would definitely keep him as a second separate tulpa. That sounds awesome. How does Red feel about him, what does he want to do with Rev? "Give a man a Truth, and he will think for a day. Teach a man to Reason, and he will think for a lifetime." -Phil Plait
Lukenstein3D November 7, 2012 Author November 7, 2012 How does Red feel about him, what does he want to do with Rev? At first I thought Red wanted me to get rid of Rev, but I think that was only to make sure that I didn't get rid of him. Now... I think maybe they are both the same, but somewhere along the line they split... This is all really weird :D Someone earlier suggested combining them together... I feel like this might be the best, as they sort-of do mesh very well. ”Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” - Henry Ford
