I've been having trouble trying to visualize my tulpa.

I can visualize my wonderland well enough and I can picture my surroundings and take a mental snapshot in a way my eyes would be jealous, but I can't imagine my tulpa this way.

When I visualize my wonderland or take a snapshot of my surroundings it's natural and easy, but I've been working on the form of my tulpa for a really long time and still can't manage to get her hindleg right, and it's even worse to get a full body, the proportions are always off.

I know I'm supposed to get better with time, but it feels that the whole visualization part shouldn't be this hard, especially since I can picture my wonderland so easily. I tried picturing my tulpa in my wonderland, in black/white voids, without any background, even what FAQ_man guide says about your surroundings, but none has worked. And I really have been working on her form for a long time.

Every time I have to start from scratch, I just can't look at a picture of her and visualize it as well as I can with my surroundings.

Any of you had this problem?

Any suggestions that could make visualization go smoother?

When you work/had worked on your tulpa, did you start from scratch every time until you could remember the whole form?

I know you're not supposed to count hours too, but how long did you take?

Is visualizing a tulpa that different from visualizing your wonderland or your surroundings?

I'm kind of lost here, I'm truthfully trying my best, but it really doesn't feels like I'm making progress, especially because I have to work on her form from scratch every time. I feel that if I could surpass this problem I could have a tulpa in no time, and just the thought of having one is already enough to make me move forward, yet it seems that the more frustrated I am because I can't do it, the more I want to give up, and I sincerely don't want to do so, specially so early on the process.

If you had enough patience to read all of this, even if you think your answer wouldn't help, could you answer anyway? Please, it seems I simply can't overcome this.

I'm brazilian and my english is not really good, I'll do every mistake you imagine, but I'll try to avoid them.

Tulpa: Kuruminha

Age: Began on the middle of october.

Form: My avatar.

Sentience: Confirmed.

Mindvoice: Not yet.

Working on: Visualization and Mindspeaking.

I don't know if this would work for everyone, but actually drawing Fae's features was enough to cement them inside my head for good. You don't need to draw well to do this (trust me, a 6 year-old would draw better than I do), but when you focus on passing this information to another medium, your brain will remember it better.

I didn't draw her whole body, though. Just the important features (specially the ones that seemed to shift and change as I was doing them. I thought these were more important as they seemed to be changing and adapting into "what she wants"). Also color and such. But everyone is different, if drawing her whole body helps you, then you should do it, instead!

Well I don't know what you mean by "starting from scratch", but I usually visualize the face and all the features, then separately try to do the hair [hardest part], and then I "put them together". Then I just kinda zoom in on every other body part and visualize them from top down. Then I zoom out and slowly let some of the details disappear. A suggestion would be, like remagebr said, to draw it.. Well, if you can. Another thing I noticed that really helped me with the hair is to actually decide how you want it to look exactly. I always tried to kinda visualize it "on the run" - randomly every time. This was very hard. But once I visualized it without any other body parts in the void, and figured out every little detail, it became much easier. If you understood any of that. I would say it took me 15 hours to get a pretty good visual, but that's only a still image. Visualizing the tulpa moving is a whole different story. And yes, I'd say visualizing wonderlands is a lot harder because there is so much more detail. In fact, I still can't visualize both my tulpa and wonderland at the same time. Well, yeah, not much else I can say since I'm a noob at this.

I'll try that, thanks.

It's like I have to draw her with my mind from nothing to something, I can't just remember how X part should look like, I have to actually "draw it" with my mind everytime, even if I worked a lot on it on the last session.

Oh, I have to do that too.. If I visualize it in the wonderland, look at something else, then back at the tulpa - I can see its general shape but I have to re-render all the details again. I'm sure this is nothing practice can't fix, though.

That's actually a good thing to try too. I'll do that.

Recently I've discovered that if a spend more time on /mlp/ and watch more MLP:FiM the form comes faster to my mind, so I guess not everything is lost. :3

About the drawing example above, it works, sucks that I'm bad at it but for anyone who is good, it's really great. I tried drawing my tulpa a few times in school and when I got home I already had the form I draw in my mind, but it wasn't really the way I wanted, so I decided not to try this anymore. If anyone can draw his/her tulpa well, it will surely make the whole visualization a LOT easier.

Yes, I believe in this too. Surely the form will come to my mind in a blink when I pratice enough, I just hope enough doen't take too long haha.

Ugh I know how you feel. I can get the visualization down pat, but trying to get him into the real world... I get frustrated, and his reactions don't help sometimes. He sometimes is amused by it or is frustrated as well... he rarely offers to sit quiet while I think. But it's like I have different places I see him better, and not from a wonderland. I see him easier in the corner of my room or on my bed... leaving against the kitchen counter or sitting next to me in the chair... I just can't see him in places outside of home or in other rooms. It's just confusing to me.

Tulpa: Vents

This is something I've had difficulty with in the past too. I've always had a clear idea of Thunderfall's form since he started life as a drawing long before I discovered tulpas, but I ran into a bit of a stumbling block when I realised I didn't know quite what he looked like looking at him head-on This has gotten better over time, but I still wouldn't say his portrait is always 100% right all the time. Is this a problem you're also having since your tulpa is also a pony? I know a lot of people design them purely from the side at first.

I also sometimes forget to add some body parts because I'm focussing too much on his face, to the point where he often has to flap his wings or swing his tail just to confirm that they are in fact there!

Thunderfall (goes by Thunder)
