Hobbies in Wonderland vs the Physical World

Greetings .info. I'm curious: does your system have different hobbies in the mental world than the physical? In our case, we each have activities we like to do with Bee. But we also have other interests we can't easily pursue in the physical world, due to lack of skill, resources, or physical ability.

For instance, Calliope and I love to play music. We play along in wonderland whenever Bee listens to music, though in reality we don't know how to play any instruments. I also enjoy gardening, but our apartment has little room for plants. My wonderland garden is far more expensive. Lenore is interested in knitting and needlepoint. Again, we don't actually know how to do that, but in our mind she can create whatever she'd like.

Some of our wonderland hobbies we could feasibly learn to do one day. Others, not so much. I like to think I'd be good at football if I had my own body. Given that Bee is 5'2, I don't think we'll be trying it out anytime soon.

Do you have any wonderland hobbies? Have you been able to try any of them in the physical world, and if so, how did it go?

Oh goodness yes! 😊 Like you, I play music in wonderland. I play the guitar, whereas in real life Phil doesn't know how to play the guitar (though he can play piano). I also knit sometimes, I don't think Phil has ever picked up a pair of knitting needles in his life. 😄 I also like to practice martial arts and that's something Phil has never done IRL. There are probably a few others but those are the ones that bubble to mind immediately.

Nice. Guitar is my instrument of choice as well. Martial arts sounds exciting.

Thank you both for your responses.

Our host has physical disabilities and conditions which really restrict what we can do in the outside world so we have total freedom in our inner world..its like an holodeck so it has safety features so no-one can get injured eg they want to go climb a mountain or stuff.  Tinks can fly on the inside and enjoys being a changeling..she likes her programs based on wildlife programs where she can go from being an eagle to a snow leopard recreating programs we have watched with host.

I (Kitty) have a farm program like Stardew Valley where I can wake up with a virtual family and enjoy feeding baby animals or I just go in a Japanese Zen garden (like we mentioned in our journal post) to meditate.

We have a thing we can do where Tinks and I can be inside as host is watching something on TV …we create an avatar version of her inside with us that sends back images to her  …for eg   ..  if she was watching a program about the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, she visualises us all being there walking it and we recreate it on the inside ..she receives same images from inside and outside (via TV) and we all feel like we really went on that trip together.

We can do the same with video games thats why we like the open world games that have really realistic graphics and character creation but like ones where there’s quite a bit of freedom to explore away from the main quests and create our own adventure.  As (host is) a wheelchair user with chronic fatigue too there’s no way we could access those kinds of places in real life…she says it’s pure escapism for her and she loves it and we make those dreams 'come alive’ for her.

Human Host: JJ (female, 55)

Main Tulpa Co Hosts: Kitty, Tinks

We like the holodeck idea. It sounds like a great way to tie all of your inner world locations together. We also like to draw inspiration from places we've been or seen on TV.

Very cool. We ought to try this sometime.

My tulpas mostly stay in the inner world. But there are some activities we love to do together, like play video games, watch shows/movies, discussions and of course sharing meals together.

In the inner world though, most tulpas have their own hobbies:

Circe: Has grown to like cooking over the years as she and I have been taking on increasingly complex dishes. She's also developed quite a nice appreciation for wine to the point where I'll defer to her taste palate whenever choosing one.

Mirror: Her "job" of hunting with her husband Thor is very much her passion in life. Much like him, she's become quite the expert hunter over the years.

Jane: In the inner world, she's got a gun/tech collection that would make most people green with envy. And mind you, she's doing this in a future cyberpunk macrocosm where the state is a dystopian piece of shit. Last I heard, she'd been preparing several warehouses to store all her crap in, I'm still not sure if she was joking about getting some mobile AA platforms...

Thor: His hobby is absolutely his tavern, where he and Mirror live. For him, hunting is more of a means to an end, but if you offer him a good adventure where he can slay evil monsters, he'll jump at the chance.

Colleen: Her hobby is absolutely her little garden in the greenhouse that's on our floating castle. If you can't find her in the apartment in the castle, you'll 100% find her there if she hasn't gone off on some other social thing.

Mrs Teacher: Is very much dedicated to her art of teaching. But, she's also the biggest bookworm I know of, and she's a damn good expert at horticulture and tea blends. Where she stores all her books though, I don't know, but her bedroom in her house has basically all the walls covered with bookcases stuffed with books on everything.

Ah yes, we've enjoyed reading about your system's adventures.

Nice. I think she and I would get along if we ever met. Our system has a big underground library in our wonderland's stronghold.

Lenore would like me to add that she loves Circe's dress :)
