BrassAndBeauty November 15, 2012 November 15, 2012 Hello all, long time, no see. To old acquaintances, How ya been? To the newfriends, welcome. I was on this site fairly early on, but have been out of the community for the past few months, due to extenuating personal circumstances. Suffice it to say, I do not have a tulpa yet. Now that I have found an environment with some semblance of stability, I recently caught up with the forums and began to attempt to force again. However, an old stumbling block has reared its head, in that I suck at visualization. My mind's eye has never been a strong one and it is hard to focus on an image marred by darkness and inspecificity. For these reasons I have been toying with the idea of an auditory, formless tulpa, or perhaps one with a simple form. I believe I or someone else asked something similar months back, when tulpae that were not to the standard set by the first tulpamanc-- tulpaforc-- creators of the movement were believed to be able to cause mental illness, specifically one manifested only as a voice in your head. I do not know if this is the current school of thought, as our view of tulpae has seemingly evolved past this. The process would be simple, depending on exactly how bad you are at visualization. If you could muster a jar or two and somesort of shape to represent the tulpa, TOG's method might work out. If not you could either follow the good old "define everything" techniques or just narrate/parrot to your heart's content. The only problem I truly see is from the perspective of the tulpa, being a shapeless being in the mind of someone unable to conjure an environment for their lives to exist within. One can only hope that once the tulpa has been created, it could provide unique insight and help its host to make a body and world for it. Sorry for the wall of text, but I've put a lot of thought into this and am excited to be back. It's nice to see the community growing. Thanks in advance. P.S. F Yeah, #tulpa.info lives on! I created the official tulpa.info irc. WooHoo. DID YA MISS ME? Blog Here: http://brassandbeauty.tumblr.com/
TulpaCouple November 15, 2012 November 15, 2012 Jaden: "I don't see anything wrong with it. I imagine there have been several formless tulpae created accidentally in history. Now my experience being formless was odd. I was only just created, though, so everything was new and strange and very confusing. Had I spent more time without a form I might have learned to enjoy it and be used to it. Even now I don't feel a 100% connection to my form, so I can see how one could live like that. It could be tough for the host to notice signs of sentience. A tulpa who is sentient but non vocal could move if being visualized, but a formless tulpa would only have head pressure and emotional responses, which is honestly great, you can get a lot of communication just through that alone, but it can also be frustrating if the host just has loud thoughts and thinks all the emotions are his/her own and the head pressures are just headaches. But I guess that's the struggle of any nonvocal tulpa. Of course, visualization is a skill, not a talent. It takes a lot of practice before you get good at it. My host was one of the only-see-the-back-of-the-eyelids type terrible visualizers, but now she sees me very clearly after a lot of practice. In the time it would take to get your tulpa vocal you very well could do enough visualization practice to actually see them if you so chose. It's really up to you though, and of course your tulpa."
Sands November 15, 2012 November 15, 2012 Roswell didn't have a form early on and was pretty sapient and all for a long time before one. He says a form wouldn't really be necessary, you can just be. It would be an imaginary form in any case and that's not a necessary one to be able to think. I didn't visualize early on because I was awful and I couldn't like, focus on things and a form at the same time, shiiit man that's too pro for me. So a formless thing was born instead. Of course there was nothing to see, so - obviously - there was nothing I could see doing things, so like, proof of his sapience was kinda difficult for me to see. But looking back he did many things and I was silly just being all :> derp I wonder what is going on. He doesn't feel any super deep connection to his form, it's just a form he takes. He could be something else or he could be nothing. There are times when he is nothing, or at least he doesn't try to feel his body, instead feeling through the physical body. I think it might help us with possession, because there is no distractions coming from another body he would be connected to. But having a humanoid body to practice moving with sounds like a good thing too, one I think helps a lot. You learn to see. You can choose not to, but you can also practice. Depends on what you and the tupper wants. Roswell likes having arms, though. And a state where both of us have a form of some sort instead of sharing the same body and only one being in control at the time. Also insert some super gay shit here about hugging and shit, goddamn. Not going to type that. The THE SUBCONCIOUS ochinchin occultists frt.sys (except Roswell because he doesn't want to be a part of it)
waffles November 15, 2012 November 15, 2012 T - "I don't know what you're asking so I'll tell you my life story" My tulpa, T, started off without a form, and was so for about 2 months. Creating a tulpa without a form was easy, I just narrated to air; no representations at all. I still used a wonderland though; it would have been a lot harder without it. I think it was easier that way; spotting sentience wasn't hard either: sure, there was no movement to guage but there plenty of signs - small changes in the wonderland, comminuicating via wake-up time, and that's besides the mindvoice that established itself pretty well. T - "Yeah, he spotted sentience pretty much as soon as it happened" After a while T started to want a form - a lot. I kept putting it off because I didn't have the time to start off. Eventually T made her own makeshift form: sort of generic, and not clear; but movement was clear enough. When I started on a form myself - a few weeks later - I discarded that form pretty quickly, and there haven't been any identification problems with the current form. T - "I felt that I wasn't quite real without a form. What I made wasn't anything viable for imposition, but it was good enough. I stil miss it occasionally. Without a form it's harder to make progress - getting to a fully developed state felt impossible then." I did have full input on T's form, though I ended up taking something pre-existing. Getting T to use it was never a problem either. T - "I felt more connected witht the form I made myself than my current one, but it doesn't matter. It was never clear in my host's mind and thus probably couldn't have been imposed. On topic, having a form is vastly preferable to not having one in the end, but it's not necessary to start off with. I guess if I hadn't been able to pick a form then I would have got used to the one chosen for me, but it was nice having input." If you can't visualise properly now then I'd advise you don't start with form. It was easier for me after sentience, anyway. Just listen to your tulpa when they say they want a form.
Viceroy November 16, 2012 November 16, 2012 I'm creating a formless tulpa through pure narration, little to no disciplined visualization at all.
Guest Albatross_ November 16, 2012 November 16, 2012 Good to see you again, Brass. As for making a formless tulpa, I say go for it. There should be no problem with it. Actually, when we were just starting, several members began with just this intention (Pleeb and myself, for instance). To my knowledge, all of us ended up with forms. If you do it and are successful that would be neat.
BrassAndBeauty November 16, 2012 Author November 16, 2012 Thanks for all the great advice. Hearing from the tulpae was especially helpful. I will most certainly be attempting this method. DID YA MISS ME? Blog Here: http://brassandbeauty.tumblr.com/
