Guest June 5, 2012 June 5, 2012 Are there any adverse consequences of narrating in your head instead of out loud?
ThatOneGuy June 5, 2012 June 5, 2012 Higher chance for parroting, I think, as well as being more inclined towards telepathy when they're done. Orange juice helps with concentration headaches.

Guest June 6, 2012 June 6, 2012 Higher chance for parroting, I think, as well as being more inclined towards telepathy when they're done. I haven't noticed much parroting at all. Why would you say that?
ThatOneGuy June 6, 2012 June 6, 2012 Because then you can be less sure of whether they're responding to you or if you're just fooling yourself into thinking they're responding through telepathy and you're actually puppeting. Orange juice helps with concentration headaches.

ThatOneGuy June 6, 2012 June 6, 2012 I'm sure you still will, though if you do more in your head you'll be inclined towards telepathy. Orange juice helps with concentration headaches.
FigN01 June 6, 2012 June 6, 2012 You'll be a lot more sure about actual sentience when you verbally narrate. When you think to your tulpa, it's easy to confuse your thoughts with what the tulpa is saying, and then a good portion feels like parroting. There's still nothing wrong with projecting your thoughts- I did it for most of the first two weeks. But the tulpa's voice will be more clear when you don't do that, and it's a really pleasant feeling when you can so easily pick out his/her response with such certainty.
Guest June 6, 2012 June 6, 2012 What if I do it at a whisper? How do you guys manage to go around talking to "yourself" and not get odd looks?

I just talk in my normal speaking voice when no one is around. If you can find somewhere without anyone else, either in your house or outside, use it. Otherwise, I advise you to hang out with your local homeless crazy person. If he talks to himself all the time, you won't feel out of place. Whispering could be fine too, or just thinking. Honestly, try everything. It's hard to screw up as long as you do what feels natural.
