Stryke October 16, 2013 October 16, 2013 Frankly I feel like I should have sought opinions on this quite a while ago, because it's been happening on and off for a while, but here we go in any case... The majority of my forcing with Thunderfall is passive, and we usually spend our time together out and about in our wonderland doing things. Something I've noticed, especially when we're leaving the house, is that he sometimes seems to be doing two things at once; either he takes two different routes to the door or he'll move towards it while also staying sat on the couch, almost as if there were two of him in the room. Could this be my mind unconsciously puppeting his actions while he wants to do something else? And if so, how do I tell for sure which action is him and which is me? Sands October 16, 2013 October 16, 2013 Ask him? Just let it happen and don't care much until you can actually ask him? It could also be him not deciding which action he wants to take or your mind just seeing something that he didn't actually do for one reason or another. Just chill, tell him that you're seeing two of him and see if he can show you which action - if either - he is doing. Intrusive thoughts are a thing, after all. Quilten October 16, 2013 October 16, 2013 Like Sands said, just ask him. If he hasn't any idea you could (are probably) just be experiencing intrusive thoughts. I remember when Quilten was earlier on development-wise, the same sort of thing would happen, for instance, if he walked across a room in front of me, a doppelganger would be sort of faded in the place he just left from and would go away once he stopped moving. I might suggest (if you can't find another way to solve the problem) finding a way for Thunderfall to distinguish himself from the potential "shadow tulpa". Even though my username is that of my tulpa, Quilten, my name is Phaneron, the host, who does all of the actual posting. Tulpas: Quilten, Jira
left blank October 16, 2013 October 16, 2013 I've experienced thoughtform 'afterimages' so often that I've learned to both accept and compensate for them. Part of the doubling effect for me has been the result of expectation. The tulpa can suddenly change its position or location, leaving my consciousness to expect or even assume it has not. This has even happened to me consciously, and with more intensity and frequency, if the tulpa has been static or stationary for extended periods. Asking the tulpa is about the only way to confirm its location, with one caveat: Legitimate bifurcation can, and does, occur. In this case, it's the same thoughtform acting out different possibilities as the subconscious calculates them. It's useful to remember the unconscious mind isn't bound by linearity, as evidenced by dreams. The best way to approach the problem of real doubles is to first not panic, realize it's the same thoughtform, and then let them reassimilate with time.

Aha, the idea of it being an afterimage never really crossed my mind, but that could very well be what's going on. We DO tend to spend a lot of time stationary before deciding to go do anything, so I guess I might be sort of burning the image of him sitting down into my mind when he's there for so long. The fact that he doesn't object to my assumption that he's moved certainly lends credence to the idea. Thunderfall (goes by Thunder) Male human Melody Female lamia
