G_d30n: Did her mumblings slowly become more coherent, or did she mumble for some time then suddenly figure out how to speak properly?

There were times when she was speaking gibberish that she'd sometimes give short, one word responses that may or may not make sense, but her vocalizations refined themselves more suddenly than gradually. She was in the mumbling stage for kind of a good while, and there was a step in that part where her gibberish actually showed a degree of understanding, like communicating with someone who can't speak English just by tone of voice, where her tone would vaguely express emotion or some thought, and she'd attempt to communicate non-verbally during forcing.

If I had to link any specific event to her sudden advancement, there was a sort of profound experience I had with her recently during forcing where she was changing the landscape of the Wonderland and something she included referenced a recurring dream I used to have, which she pointed out to me non-verbally. It really took me by surprised and I got a little emotional over it and I kind of opened up to her even more-so than before and really had to recognize how creative and intelligent she is. The next day, after another forcing session, which was less eventful, I started narrating, and she started responding with actual words and sentences.

If you have insomnia then I'll just go ahead and say it was just you hearing things. Insomnia can cause hallucinations, since you aren't getting enough sleep.

I've actually been getting decent enough hours of sleep the past two weeks, between eight and ten hours a night for the most part.

How can you tell apart hypnagogic hallucinations from your tulpa attempting to speak, if the tulpa can't quite form proper thoughts?

Moose: you're next. Ô_Q

I'd actually say that hypnagogic hallucinations help the voice because there's way more interruption and interference in synthesized voices when you're tired, and thus, there's a higher probability of the tulpa "accidentally" spewing out a word or two. Hell, Pinkie spoke to me when I was just randomly dozing off at my desktop.

There's a certain level of distinction on hypnagogic state, between speech responses and dream overlaps. The former are less "blurry", less oriented to a single auditive channel (as in, you're not hearing them just from one side) and clearer in general. They're also weird as hell, at least the first times. That's what I can grasp from my experiences (a couple of vocal responses vs. lots and lots of dream overlaps).

Also Moose, just want to say not to doubt yourself too much. Doing that puts you on a long hard path to vocalizations.

What kind of doubts would be bad?

I do have some "am I parroting" doubts myself... I've stopped caring, but they are lingering there in my mind.

I'm going to use Pronas here as a prime example. He was doubting himself to the point that he was outright ignoring what Kate was saying. He was so paranoid that he was parroting that he wouldn't accept anything as actually Kate talking, and blocked himself from hearing her vocalizations. A little bit of caution is good, and it's easy to test for parroting. However simply shooting down what could possibly be vocalizations because you doubt yourself is not good. The tests, by the way, are having your tulpa do a simple math problem while you avert your focus elsewhere (say, reading something out loud) and then having them give you an answer in the middle of whatever you're doing.

What about all those people whose tulpae fail at math for now?

I think your test is solid for those who can teach their tulpae math, but not sufficient for those in the early stages where they might think their tulpa is moving by itself or when they're unsure if they're parroting their voice or not.

That is one of the issues with it, since not every tulpa has access to the subconscious fully just yet. Otherwise it's still possible to have the tulpa follow a different train of thought that differs from yours and yet doesn't involve math. However, that would be up to the creator to figure out what works best.
