left blank December 6, 2013 December 6, 2013 I told you [...] from my own personal point of view, knowing exactly why I wouldn't want to make tulpas out of my characters. Precisely. I was responding to you, not the thread's initiator. He has yet to answer why he doesn't want to, maybe his reasons are different, but that doesn't mean they're any less valid than your own. I didn't intend to invalidate anyone's point of view. I asked for elucidation from @curiosity so that I can understand why he feels having an additional, accidental tulpa is a problem. In the meantime, I offered a few possible solutions and approaches for recourse because it's my feeling that such an event doesn't necessitate a miserable or destructive outcome. I'm suggesting, quite simply, that if a tulpa does manifest, it can probably be dealt with positively. And, to be clear, I don't encourage everyone to craft tulpas from each fictional character they develop. If that works for someone though, great! There are notable examples of authors who've used similar methods. So I don't even understand why you're going on about this when you didn't even answer the original question in the first place. Like I said, until or unless the original poster expounds on his issue, I'm proposing some alternative perspectives and replying to anyone who engages me — you, in this case. If you'd like me to cease and desist, you're more than welcome to request that. Also, when I say "you", sometimes it might very well be a plural you because English has such a feature, or you might even be able to replace it with "one". Grammar does not negate the use of disparaging remarks here, regardless of their trajectory. This isn't about my battered self-image; I would react the same way if I saw you target someone else. It's unnecessarily harmful behaviour. Also I thought adding thank you very much after things gave them a humorous tone but I guess not. Not when appended to an otherwise inflammatory post, no. Now, for the sake of the thread, I'm sure it's best to curb the bickering. If you want to keep expressing your objections to my conduct and motives, please PM me, because at this point it's not conducive to the topic. And if anyone else would like to voice their complaints about how I've handled myself here, chuck me a message so I can sort it out.
Sands December 6, 2013 December 6, 2013 Inflammatory, huh? I guess my opinions about something innocent are inflammatory now and I thought it's a pretty accepted universal truth that it is stupid to force one's way as the only one when it comes to opinions and such. Come on Envolucris... You're still missing the point that not every you is you personally though. Please work on that so we can talk about better stuff in the future. left blank December 6, 2013 December 6, 2013 Inflammatory, huh? At very least potentially, and definitely not constructive. The way you expressed yourself made all the difference.
Sands December 6, 2013 December 6, 2013 And I thought I was being super nice talking about a thing I really like and am passionate about. 3 The THE SUBCONCIOUS ochinchin occultists frt.sys (except Roswell because he doesn't want to be a part of it)
curiousity December 9, 2013 Author December 9, 2013 Thank you, all of you. I didn't mean to just start a thread and then let it go but I ended up visiting some family for few days. Reading these replies helps me get over my mental hurdle. To Envolucris: The reason I wouldn't want a character to turn into a Tulpa after I already had one do just that(I love him, don't get me wrong) is that I don't want several Tulpae. I just don't think I'd be able to give them all the attention they need and frankly it might get 'crowded' in my mind. I could just see the cycle: Write a story, character becomes Tulpa, stop writing story because it's become puppetting, start new story with new character, repeat. Besides, I like horror and I have characters that range from normal to murderous psychopaths.
Sands December 11, 2013 December 11, 2013 Just follow my advice, then. The THE SUBCONCIOUS ochinchin occultists frt.sys (except Roswell because he doesn't want to be a part of it)
