I know in the Q&A section there has been some discussion about whether tulpae can have knowledge beyond their host. The general consensus of course is that they are limited by what their host knows.

I wanted to take this a step further and talk about whether a tulpa can better use knowledge that the host can't really apply.

For instance, I play some piano, but I don't remember how to read musical notes nor have I really ever been that good at it even when I was taking lessons. I never had a solid understanding of chords, but with all of that the potential was always there. It just wasn't fostered. I recently set up a grand piano in my wonderland, and Edwin has started to sort of teach himself how to play. Everything I've ever learned and been able to play is there in my mind, and he has full access to it.

Lately, when I'm listening to music or get a song in my head, it's almost like I hear Eddie's voice say "Key of D" or "C Chord", stuff like that. I've started visualizing music notes and seeing my hands flying more smoothly along the keys. Theoretically, could Edwin become better at playing piano than I am, and would this translate when he possesses me? He knows nothing more than I do, but he may be applying the knowledge more effectively than me.

Of course a tulpa can learn to perform different mental tasks that you don't know, or simply wouldn't think to apply at the time. Yeah, he could get better at playing piano than you but it would take him practice. You sound like you know your way around the keyboard, so he could quite possibly practice in the wonderland. He would probably need to do additional practice using your physical hands afterward though, since physical hands control differently.

If Edwin knows how to play piano and possesses you, he will be able to play, that's what I believe, my tulpa possessed me during math class to teach me how to calculate math, he was far greater than I was at mathematics, the knowledge was still mine but he used it.

Great to know! I don't expect him to be a total savant and pick up a song just by hearing it once or anything like that. He does spend quite a bit of time practicing in wonderland. I haven't had the opportunity to listen to him yet; in fact, he's quite shy about it. But I hope over time to coax him to practice through possession and see if he gets better than I am. Since he's started learning I've already found myself developing a better understanding of chords.

Im a musician too. I play violin and since i have Lacie my creativity increased dramticly. When i train she is also the one who remind me to play in the rythm. Yes my music skills increased since Lacie and i share the work i can focus on my technique and body while she is looking for the correct rythm and intonation. I think having a tulpa is just a mental help and a medium to use abilities you already have. I think of it like a shortcut and the brain is able to combine music and a tulpa with coordination and intonation.

The best way to learn is to combine new with old and using it for neurons.

I don´t think your tulpa is able to be better then you in physical playing becuse being able to imagine a note and being able to play it on an instrument is a big difference.

For example my tulpa does play the piano in our wonderland. Sometimes i hear her playing songs i don´t know. She created it with her imagination. But the brain also do this subconsciously. In lucid dreams i can create new music sounds which are amazing for me. Sometimes im able to remeber them when i wake up, then i write down the notes i remembered and use them for a song i create .

Many tulpa can have access to your subconscious and then they are able to guide music your brain creates to your consciousness so you are able to realise it.

If your tulpa helps you with your intonation, you where basicly beeing able to hear the notes all the time but your tulpa is the medium to carry it form your subconscious to your consciousness.

Tulpas have the innate ability to detach themselves from whats happening around you if they need to focus on something. So in general, they would achieve more in the same amount of time. Then again, you can train yourself to become focused to the point of detaching yourself from the signals that come from your body. That's also the same skill you'll need to achieve switching*

*That, and a load of practice on the tuppers side in possession.

I'll be interested in seeing how it develops for us, then. I've never been very well grounded and as such can easily dissociate from my own body. Eddie and I are almost to the point of switching, though I don't think he realizes it since it isn't necessarily a goal of his. But I've done plenty of switching in the past with another tulpa of mine.

Almost sounds like you're calling all tulpas autistic...

Seriously though, your tulpa won't have the muscle memory to play the instrument technically better than you. Their limits won't be higher. But perhaps they can better focus and apply theory than yourself in some cases. For example, Sen, the other tulpa in my head, is very much better than my host at certain games, but that's because more he keeps fucking around in them and not doing his best than because she is so much better at it.

Feel free to ask me anything.

Suffering is self-imposed. Don't let it control you.

I can’t remember where, but I once read about someone who didn’t allow his tulpa access to his memories and his tulpa had memories of being in wonderland without the host having the same memories (but I can’t vouch for the validity of this). So, it seems possible that the host and tulpa might be able to have different memories.

As for application, the tulpa is, for all intents and purposes, imaginary, so imaging playing the piano and actually playing it are two very different things. A much better experiment would to try with something like a science; seeing if the tulpa could figure out bond angles within molecules before the host and the like.

That falls a little too strictly under knowledge for me. I suppose when it comes to playing the piano it would be more like a "skill" than "knowledge", though the latter is necessary for the host to have in order for the tulpa to and the former may require at least a little muscle memory.

I know that Edwin won't instantly be able to play the piano better than me, because the sensation of playing a physical piano through possession is much different from him playing on his own in wonderland. It will take practice, lots of it, both for him to learn to play and for him to learn to possess smoothly enough to play through my body. I'm not even positive at this point if it's something he'd want to pursue. He is very rigid and uncertain when possessing my hands to type, oftentimes not striking a key hard enough for the computer to recognize and having to press it again with more intention; to think of him swiftly moving my hands across piano keys right now is a far-fetched idea, though not at all impossible.
