I have been suffering with Schizophrenia since 1992. For a VERY long time I have had very negative "entities" in my mind. (I'm wondering if they can be called negative Tulpas.) Until just recently I'm finally having positive "entities" and there are ALOT of them. I have Krishna, many other Hindu Gods and Godesses, Buddhist Deities, Angels and even aliens. They all work together to help strengthen my mind and a more healthy mind. I just accidentally stumbled on this site a couple of day ago and I'm finding this stuff to be real fascinating. Are these positive beings that I hear Tulpas?

They might not fit the exact definition of a tulpa because you didn't explicitly create them. My first instinct is to tell you to investigate more widely among the various Plural communities.

There's a broad spectrum of experiences with certain shared traits, and in fact this community might you give exactly the kind of information you can use. But this is the end of the spectrum for intentional experiments in multiple living.

At the other end of Plurality, there is Dissociative Identity Disorder (the current name for what was traditionally called Multiple Personality). Amongst them, there are certainly distinct thoughtforms but that have sprung up naturally. It is much more likely to hear from a DID system that they have a lot of companions in their heads.

And there is a happy medium ground of simply calling oneself Plural. It's sort of the umbrella term at this point for any body that has multiple minds running. But it does imply a healthy acceptance of that existence. Whether that means you started out a noisy messy system who finally found peace amongst its members. Or perhaps a tulpamancy system where the tulpæ have matured into full-time partners in what the body does.

There will certainly be people who disagree that schizophrenia could even possibly be related. But the way you explain have gone from disordered to a much more positive sounding system makes my host and i believe that schizophrenia actually is on the same spectrum as DID, if a bit farther down.

Or perhaps i would even say that you've grown into DID and then moved forward again to become a healthy Plural system. So i'd like to point out extra reading from /r/plural on Reddit. Your situation is really distinct enough that you could look into different ways of looking at this.

Early member of a large system.  Our system questions the way the afterlife and tulpamancy interact.  We genuinely suspect that deadies can return to share the mind of the living.

Tulpae are consciously created. Most "accidental tulpae" are just imaginary friends that have evolved, in a way. Unless you created these entities, they're probably just voices or other personalities.

I know without a Doubt that I do not have DID. I'm a Schizophrenic.

Are Tibetan Yidams like Tulpas?

Are Tibetan Yidams like Tulpas?

I think the Yidams are almost like an alter ego. They are meant you represent the enlightened and deified you.

A tulpa is a separate being. They usually don't represent you, and are often your total opposite. They also aren't gods or godlike. They are on the same level as humans (in a spiritual aspect, if you want to look at it that way).

Technically what we're making are yidams. According to the Tibetans, a tulpa is like a yidam, but it can be seen by everyone -- not just the creator. Though of course I'm not suggesting we change the name of the site or anything. We just define "tulpa" differently than the ancient Tibetans.

As to the schizophrenia bit, it's hard to say. I have ADHD, so I can't possibly have schizophrenia. Therefore having tulpas does not make you schizophrenic. But the reverse isn't necessarily true -- perhaps you could say that what you get from schizophrenia is a tulpa. Unfortunately, the word "tulpa", as used by our community, is very poorly defined, so it's hard to say what is and what is not a tulpa. But I'd definitely be interested in hearing more from you.

I looked pver another post about Tulpas and Schizophrenia and posted a response but it's an old post so I may not get an answer on that particular post.

Shall I introduce myself in the new Users section? I have alot to talk about and I'm wondering if I can create a Tulpa that could also help me in my condition? Like I said before. I have many of what I call "entities." Also to help clear the waters I am on Meds. I'm on 2 psychh meds. One I have been on since 1999. The other I just started recently when I started this med my entities changed to helpful ones and the harmful ones are almost gone. I've been calling this med a miracle drug because I am such a better person on it. The local mental health center calls me a low maintenance client. meaning I can handle myself on my own. So let there be no worries about my mental condition being in a aweful state.
