Rhea4561 June 18, 2015 June 18, 2015 Okay, so before I even knew what a tulpa was I made myself a sort of friend in my head. We would talk, I gave him a form and a gender and a voice, and then I learned what a tulpa was and how to properly force and make a good personality and all that jazz. Well, by that time my sort-of tulpa was a real jackass. He constantly criticizes everything I do, calls me names, and is generally out of control with a few moments of calm mixed in. Now I'm wondering what I'm supposed to do. Do I finish forming him now that i know how, do I leave him alone, do i get rid of him? I don't know! I'm sort of attached to him now but his personality wasn't thought out, he's sadistic on a bad day, a bully, and a general nuisance to daily life. I need help figuring this out, please.
[Insert_Name_Here] June 18, 2015 June 18, 2015 Ya it does sound like quite the toxic relationship. Most tulpas tend to be very beneficial to their host, becoming best friends and even lovers. Understand that if what you have truly is a tulpa, meaning they are sentient, you could try talking it out with him. Perhaps there is some form of misunderstanding going on between you two. Even tales involving tulpas who have very bad relationships with their hosts tend to show that these tulpas still only have good intentions with their hosts, thinking that their actions benefit the host somehow. Perhaps you could try to talk to him and find out his motives for being so rude. It could be he represents your judgmental side; you know how they say "we are our worst critics," well it could be that he represents how self-judgemental you are, saying the bad things you may subconsciously think about yourself. This is just one example and there could be many things going on here so try to talk it out with him.
Paranoid Llama June 18, 2015 June 18, 2015 It might be better to just outright talk to him. He may have something on his mind that's bugging him. Considering the fact it happened after you learned about tulpas and proper ways to force one, it could be something related to it? In any case, talking to him about it is the way to go. Ask him why he is so irritable and how you feel about it. Remember that tulpas should be treated exactly like other people, and because of that I'd highly recommend not getting rid of him. If that's not the problem, it could have been beliefs that shaped him like that. Were you ever thinking or believing something related to him being bad or scary after learning about tulpae? If it was one of those scary tulpa stories, they're all completely fiction... I'm not going to listen to you guys since you are all probably just talking to yourself and don't really have a tulpa like me.
Kaga and Company June 22, 2015 June 22, 2015 I suppose you could say I sort of had a similar experience with Pinky. I created her before I knew what tulpas were, and she used to be a lot meaner than she is now, and had a tendency to throw insults and kick me when I was down. We're on much better terms now, though. Sure she still pokes fun at me from time to time but we both know it's in jest. What I'm trying to say is, just because things seem bad now, doesn't necessarily mean you should try to get rid of him. Maybe you two should talk? I can't think of any real turning point in my relationship with Pinky, just that she became more considerate and kind over time, maturing I suppose. Perhaps understanding what she really was helped us with this, as, previously, I thought that she was a representation of my more aggressive side (which included positive traits like leadership ability but also negative ones like meanness), while Sunray was a representation of my more passive side (which included traits like kindness but also others like shyness), so I guess I sort of subconsciously created them to live up to those traits and continuously reinforced them. Once I accepted them as simply being tulpas, Pinky slowly deviated away from a lot of that meanness, and is much more of her own person now, and a kinder person at that. What did you think your tulpa was before you knew he was a tulpa? How did that influence how you saw him? Identifying what your relationship was before and how it's changed might help put you two on better terms. Pinky is not a pony. She's an imp. Sunray is an angel-imp. Ex is humanoid. Kael is a dragon. Magnum is a dog.
