Mulder July 18, 2012 July 18, 2012 Does anyone know what the limit for visualization clarity is? Is it possible to get to the point where you're basically having closed-eye hallucinations of an entire world inside of your mind? Almost like an awake form of lucid dreaming. For example, when I visualize it mostly seems to be in the mind's eye. Visually I'm still seeing the blackness of the inside of my eyelids, but my mind is in some way painting this foggy picture of a world that I can see but at the same time I can't see it with my eyes. Does this change as your visualization abilities improve?
Maximus July 18, 2012 July 18, 2012 As my visualization improves where I'm seeing the picture doesn't change. It's all in my mind's eye. What changes is how well I can see it. It has gradually shifted from fuzzy grey outlines and short bursts of colors to more consistent and clear solid colors and more defined shapes and stuff. Sometimes I do get kind of an afterimage thing in my eyes when I lose focus and stop visualizing really fast. That rarely happens now though.
Tryed July 18, 2012 July 18, 2012 Very bad. Can't keep the image in my head for more than a couple seconds and this is probably going to make my tulpa become sentient only when I'm over 200 hours... at least it feels like that.
Nevermore July 18, 2012 July 18, 2012 I usually get what you described as that third eye effect, but over time the clarity of that has indeed improved. I did use some meditation/hypnosis techniques one time to lose feeling in my body, and I was able to achieve a near lucid dream state where I visualized my wonderland. You don't just say things like this and then not share them. “There is not enough love and goodness in the world to permit giving any of it away to imaginary beings.” -Friedrich Nietzsche
Nevermore July 18, 2012 July 18, 2012 You don't just say things like this and then not share them. Well the techniques are sort of ones I came across just working with self-hypnosis, a mish-mash so to say. Like counting down slowly in the back of your mind and telling yourself things like "I am going deeper", breathing very slowly (in rhythm to the counting sometimes), clearing my mind to an extent, staying completely still, closing out distractions (noises, light, etc.). Just little things like that, until you work yourself into a state of extreme relaxation. No, the limit literally is your imagination. “There is not enough love and goodness in the world to permit giving any of it away to imaginary beings.” -Friedrich Nietzsche
