Guest July 19, 2012 July 19, 2012 This is actually an idea that I've had for several weeks, but brought to the idiots people of #tulpa.info's attention today. The idea is to make a guide generator that'll piece together snippets of text into a personal guide for the individual, eliminating the trouble of having to go through every single guide like everyone has had to so far. First thing that we need to do is plan out exactly how this generator will work. For instance, should it specifically have phases like personality, visualization, etc. or just be freeroam? Phases will allow us to just throw categories of snippets into junkyards and pick from there based on scores, but this also makes our generator conservative and narrow-minded, since not all optimal ways involve a billion phases. Several issues should be taken into concern here. Next thing to do after that is to compile relevant questions for the generator. These should be yes/no and weighted questions, and should be as concise as possible. Images could be used to assist explanations, e.g. we could link to this image and get a 1-6 scale of the person's visualization skills as part of a weighted question. What we'll need to do next is take the existing confirmed-to-work guides and seperate their text into paragraphs that'll follow along nicely after one another in the resulting guide, depending on how we've set up phases, if phases are to even exist in the generated guide. We could even just make it an option to seperate the snippets into phases. Text should also be cleaned up for any spelling/grammar errors or TMI. Next, we need to form a team to study the logs of people with finished tuppers and work out nicely written concise paragraphs for the generator, since many here have not written a guide but still have a finished tupper. Additionally, if some people haven't written detailed logs, they can always just be contacted via PM or other ways and be questioned there. Final thing will be coding it in itself. I'm taking Pleeb will handle this. If not, anyone can volunteer, of course. I'm personally too lazy, and I'm not sure how much Pleeb would prefer a C++ program to decide the fate of our generator. This is what I have in mind for now. Discuss.
Pleeb July 19, 2012 July 19, 2012 I like this idea. One member was saying earlier in the IRC that they couldn't narrate traits and stuff because they couldn't narrate to 'nothing' -- they needed something visual to direct their traits to. Such a generated guide for a user like that would have in its method doing visualization first, before personality. I think the first thing to do, is to compile as many questions as we can. These will be yes and no questions, as well as weighted questions (e.g. we link to this picture and get a 1 through 6 scale of the person's visualization; I'm a 5-6, myself, but I started at 1-2). FigN01 July 19, 2012 July 19, 2012 If you put this in place, it definitely needs a disclaimer saying that the user is not obligated to follow any specific instructions. I expect some will be convinced that a guide made from their input has to be strictly adhered to. We all know that won't be the case.
Guest July 19, 2012 July 19, 2012 Even if we put a disclaimer, chances are that many users will clenge to their personal guide anyway, so I say we better make the v1 of this generator very comprehensive. We can add from there.
Nevermore July 19, 2012 July 19, 2012 This is a really good idea, I don't know how much I can help but I'll try if I can. Name: Arya Form: Anthro Avian Time Spent: 8-10 hours forcing, stopped counting narration time Stage: Wrapping up personality/Visualization good/She is speaking well
Fenrir July 19, 2012 July 19, 2012 You can visualise first before personality?.... I was wondering if you could do that hehe
Citizen Anon July 21, 2012 July 21, 2012 You can visualise first before personality?.... I was wondering if you could do that hehe Oh yea, that's what I did back in March when it wasn't really advised against, but I t-turned out fine... Name: Lyra Form: http://i.imgur.com/JjMxK.jpg Sentience: Emotional responses, occasional brief vocalization Currently doing: Personality & narration
SSaint July 21, 2012 July 21, 2012 I don't know about this. If somebody needs counsel beyond the existing guides, it'd probably be better for them to talk it over with actual people than read some 'personalized' Frankenstein guide. “There is not enough love and goodness in the world to permit giving any of it away to imaginary beings.” -Friedrich Nietzsche
Pandoranomicon July 22, 2012 July 22, 2012 It does seem like a weird idea, but since it is weird it is interesting! I think it would be a fun little experiment to do, but how will it be pulled off? Will someone have to take a quiz which will put the steps or what is preferred in order? Will it be a webpage with a downloadable e-book? I see SO many possibilities with this.
