Hi,

Whenever I decide to draw my Tulpa (usually to help me visualise, or just as art) the form she takes changes to the type of art style/design I drew. (I'm currently experimenting in drawing in different ways, different programs, with vector/mouse instead of bitmap/tablet, etc)

My tulpa does like being drawn, and when I ask her why, she finds it funny that I don't know why she changes form to the most recent art style I drew her in. She doesn't really want to tell me...

Any thoughts on this? It's only the style of visualisation that's being changed, her form, hair, clothes etc are pretty much the same.

That's pretty much how it is for us, except I can't draw anything at all. But the pictures we find of them (they're based on Touhou characters) that we like and save tend to influence their forms. For me though, that's because I have terrible visualization, even after many years I can't really visualize them or the wonderland clearly. Having pictures as a base for their form helps, and they tend to be a mix of lots of different ones, but yeah. Art that they associate themselves with tends to influence their form because we don't otherwise have the visualizing prowess to do that ourselves.

Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn.

Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

Well, there's this principle of "the simplest answer is often times the correct one".

And the simplest answer here would be: "Because she wants to look the way that you're most likely to like / appreciate the most, and maybe also just because it's fun to her."

We tend to do that too. When my host draws us in anime-style, that's the form we take for a while. When she draws us more realistic, that's the form we take. This is the case down to whatever outfit she most recently drew us in, at least for a while after the drawing.

For us, I think it's just a matter of that being the most recent image our host has of us in our memory, so that's the one we can call up most easily. You're right in that the different images represent the same person, so the person underneath doesn't change... but the image itself can.

(Granted, most of us have a default form that we snap back to after a while of that, but the point is that, yeah, our forms can change to match recent drawings.)

So that's my simple answer: she might just take the form most recent in your collective memory. because it's easiest (and probably most interesting, since it's new) to recall.

Mine will do that as well. Likewise, they really enjoy being drawn.

When asked, mine tend to say something concerning solidity, that is, they're form becomes more solid in mind.
