My body is me. It is not a "vessel."

I like this idea of an interface. It's more accurate than a simple vessel :)

No animosity intended ever

This; the body's my interface to the outer world, but that's its only purpose.

Yeah that's me too and the interface to the internet, which is my only real way I communicate.  I'm a weirdo.

I actually disagree with you Mistgod. I believe the body as a vessel, but not as "us".

There are many people out there who do not like their bodies, but not in a "I'm too overweight" kind of way. Some people manifest this in gender reassignment. Others take it out on themselves. I personally am not happy with my body image, simply content. It was not a form chosen by me, it was a form I was forced into.

I have an imagined form in my mind that I feel completely at home in. This was long ago when I created this form moving to the thought that my physical body is simply a vessel and I have become much more comfortable with life this way. I feel that most people would agree but since they don't necessarily dislike their physical form and have existed as it for so long, their physical form is literally them.

For me the cementing on this theory is the capability for a Tulpa to possess and maintain complete control. What if a malicious Tulpa decided that they wanted your body and was stronger than you? If they forced you out and had complete control with what you were doing, where does that leave you? You have now become the thought form and your roles have flipped. My sister went through being possessed by an outside spirit and would essentially blackout and lose all control.

That is the reason I believe in the "system" style of thinking. The host tends to have the most control, but our physical being is not ours completely.

I would note that I said MY body is not a vessel. Others may see their body as a vessel and that is what works for them. I must admit that the body dysmorphia is something I hadn't considered, that someone can feel like the body does not match who they are inside. I do agree that happens with people and of course it is well documented in psychology.

There is another kind of dysmorphia that happens as you age with some people. Like I feel my body is way too old for my mind. I feel like a much younger man inside-mentally.

I feel like a much younger man inside-mentally.

Oh don't worry, I'm sure that much is true. Dealing with an aging physical body is one of the basest struggles of human life however. Since we can't currently stop the aging process, the best you can do is keep your body healthy. Not everyone will be so lucky as to avoid health issues as they age, but there are certainly people above the age of 80 who are basically perfectly fit. While that may be a mix of luck and dedication, there's an awful lot of middle ground between doing nothing and doing that. Little things will make a big difference over time.

Of course, last I checked you actually were making an effort to stay fit, so this post may be redundant.

Or a reminder.

Thanks I can use the reminders. LOL Melian helps a lot too by use of careful application of nagging behavior.

All this talk of body dysmorphia is reminding me of the story of that guy who cut of his own leg because it was wrong. Like, literally, he couldn't stand the thought of it. The story is enough to squick most people out, but that is what he really wanted.

You know, if I had been born with a tail, and I found out it had been cut off, I would have been furious.

That's interesting Mistgod because I've always felt older than my age. (Not that I wish to appear older) I've always been very mature and had greying hair since middle school.

Yeah that is interesting. :-) Gray hair is not as bad as going bald. LOL Some people find gray hair very attractive.
