Playing Pokemon With Tulpa

It's not "a beginner game" per se, there's quite a bit of challenge if you don't use the xp share (and if your pokemon aren't great, maybe even with). But it is very beginner friendly. You still have to see every pokemon at least once to know what's effective or not, which means fighting every pokemon without that help at least once. X and Y was easy but it was a lot of fun!

 

Yes they're all shiny, took a little over 200 hours to get them all. Bewear is a normal/fighting type, lopunny is normal with fighting type capability because it can mega-evolve into a fighting type, but Nintendo is retroactively trying to get rid of mega-evolution (every single mega-dex entry is like "ITS POWER IS TOO GREAT AND IT IS IN MUCH PAIN"), so there's no way to get the mega stones for Lopunny, Mawile, or Audino in Sun&Moon.

 

Normal types are as strong as any other, and they only have one weakness, fighting. And they get STAB (+50% Same Type Attack Bonus) on moves like Return, Hyper Beam and Giga Impact, so they can be surprisingly strong! Also, our team (except the Bewear I guess, we caught and bred those in Sun&Moon) is pretty much competitive-ready, though we don't want to play it. We've played every single game (at least the Diamond of Diamond & Pearl and then Platinum, etc.) through our lives and are pretty dang good. I have to defend our team's pride and say, just one of our Pokemon excluding the Bewear could probably take down anyone's non-competitive bred team. They're... really overpowered. Ninetales enters the battle with Sunny Day automatically, and Politoed with Rain Dance, thanks to their Hidden Abilities (hard to get alternatives to their normal abilities). Audino and Lopunny are armed with Power-up Punch and Return, to raise their attack stat and then STAB 100 (150) power + raised stats attack after.

 

They're pretty crazy! Though we don't really want to fight anyone seriously, Lumi wanted to make sure if we did, we wouldn't lose. Aaaaanywaaaaaays. We are enjoying Moon immensely, it's so much fun playing with characters representing us. Still recommend!

^ 200 hours? That is dedication. Also, I know normal types can be good, I just think they're boring. I'd rather use a psychic type, ya know?

I had this surreal moment where a Grubbin appeared, and I didn't want to catch it, but Apollo did. We started arguing over it. Apollo pointed out that he was supposed to make the decisions, so I gave in and caught it. He added insult to injury and gave it a terrible name (Bootise? Really? It wasn't even female). How genuine this disagreement between the two of us was caught me a little off guard. I don't think I've had moments like that with Apollo, at least not that I can remember.

I just liked it because I thought it was cute. I think all of them are cute! But Lyra was like, "No, I don't like bug types, and we already have an electric type, blah blah," just let me get the darn bug! XD

I'm not going to list all Pokemon we have in future posts, just the team and ones we have caught since last time to show Apollo's naming ability.

 

We saw the Alolan Meowth, and Apollo just about died from how cute it was. He wanted me to catch it to add it to the team, and I said, "But Persian has low stats-" but realized it doesn't matter. If Apollo wants the Pokemon, then that's that. I always think about stats and types when building a team. I'm an aggressive player: I want as strong a team as I can get to show those NPCs who's boss! Apollo, though, just wants to have fun and have a team that is cute and he loves. While I think that Grimer could be a good addition to our team for a while, he doesn't want it as it's ugly. Sorry Doc. Maybe this shows a personality difference between us, as I've always cared about strength and types more than much else in the game. But that's to be expected as I know Apollo.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if our team fighting the Elite Four ends up being low-stat Pokemon that Apollo will love too much to replace.

Pokemon's easy enough to win with whatever pokemon you want as long as you're willing to train a bit. If you're already experienced at Pokemon, I would definitely recommend just playing with who you like regardless of stats from now on. Just try and get at least two different type attack moves on most of them (teaching random pokemon things like Ice Beam and Psychic can be extremely helpful later on). Also there's nothing wrong with the pokemon you chose so far! They all end up around ~500 stats, which is more than enough.

 

Alolan Persian learns two of its best moves in the 60s, so I'd recommend finding Dark Pulse somewhere on Poni Island when you get there to get it early. Also, Bite has a 30% flinch chance and Feint Attack can't miss, and it can learn a few interesting TMs, so it'll be fine! And remember Grubbin evolves to its 3rd form when leveled in some place on Poni Island, so don't miss that before you leave.

This thread has been dead for a long time, but we're bringing it back as all of the tulpas in the system are making a shared save file on Pokemon X.

 

Now, we couldn't agree on the gender of the trainer. We restarted the game to switch it from female to male, then I accidentally turned off the game without saving so we went back to being a girl, named Tups. The nickname we chose is Overlord.

 

We couldn't agree on the starter either, but finally decided to go with the Chespin. Luxi named it Leviathan.

 

Will update as we go along. I am the one playing for now, while the rest give me their input and ideas etc.

Luxi bossed me around a LOT when I played yesterday. Luxi and Tacio got into an argument over whether or not to add a Fletchling to the team, because doing so would make us not choose the Charmander, which Tacio wanted. Luxi and Luci are more interested in the game than Piano and Tacio are, but Tacio enjoys when he gets to make decisions so the girls don't get their way, lol.

Pokemon Sun is great! They've made it more beginner-friendly than any game's ever been. Once you've fought a Pokemon before, in future battles it'll tell you which of your moves are effective, super effective or non-effective. And it tells you where to go pretty consistently too. You'd like it!

 

I do want to note though that Nintendo hired some real edgelords to write the Pokedex entries this time around. I'm not kidding and I don't know why, seriously, look at this

I think that move effectiveness feature is alright for begineers, but thete should be a way to disable it. call me old-school, but remembering that kind of thing is how you learned to get good. I'll stick to my printout charts
