Lacquer February 26, 2013 Share February 26, 2013 What are some examples of tulpas (not really tulpas, just things like tulpas) in the media? Things like books, movies, tv shows, video games, radio shows, etc. I can think of a couple off the top of my head: Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes Gary from FOP

Laurora February 26, 2013 Share February 26, 2013 Ruby Sparks. Calvin manifested her with his mind. She would've been a tulpa if she couldn't interact with the physical world and couldn't be seen by others. There's a link to the Ruby Sparks page in the see also section of the Tulpa wikipedia page. Shark Boy And Lava Girl would've both been tulpae as well if it weren't for the same reasons as Ruby Sparks. All the imaginary friends in Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends. Once again, close to, but aren't tulpae for the same reasons.
House Of Chimeras February 26, 2013 Share February 26, 2013 You could say the nature of humans having a daemon in His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman is somewhat similar to tulpas in some ways though they are physical. A series called So Weird once had an episode (called Tulpa actually), about a boy creating one. I remember watching it growing up.

Guest Anonymous February 26, 2013 Share February 26, 2013 beautiful mind? It's schizophrenia which causes the hallucinations. I feel as those we had this thread before, but really, any sort of hallucination could be pinned as being a tulpa. Regardless: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out_of_Jimmy's_Head

Scott Z February 26, 2013 Share February 26, 2013 Season 1 of Supernatural (the television series) also had an episode which featured a tulpa (and did use the actual term). The movie Drop Dead Fred was very similar to Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends in its treatment of thoughtforms. Those are a couple off the top of my head. my thoughtform = Isis her appearance = stylized rabbit with dark fur and glowing eyes her developmental stage = imaginary friend
