I would have been wary of any community that bases their beliefs off of a work of fiction, but they seem to know what they're talking about. That excerpt on owls is really detailed, and pretty accurate. If they have a description like that for most other animals, I'd be impressed. I just wonder if everyone in the community is choosing only charismatic animals for themselves like wolves, snakes, or monkeys. I'd have so much more respect for guy who has a naked mole rat as a daemon.

Naked Mole Rat

also known as the sand puppy or desert mole rat

-Regarded as very odd. Because of this, some don’t like you and others absolutely adore you.

-You hang out with a large group of people, in which everyone seems to have a certain place. In this group, you are extremely social.

-Specialize in one skill or activity, leaving you a bit confused and clumsy when you have to do anything else.

-Dedicated to what you do.

-You were surprisingly mature as a child, and you haven’t changed much since then.

-Sometimes considered “blind”; this may mean that you refuse to see others’ points of view, or perhaps you just have trouble seeing what others can, causing you to have a bad sense of fashion, have problems solving simple equations, or have trouble doing puzzles. Despite this, you often notice things that most people don’t.

-Had a sheltered childhood; in fact, you may still be pretty sheltered.

-You are a very busy person. You’re always doing something.

-You really don’t like to be away from your large group of friends. Even though you may not know all of them well, you consider this group a second family (or perhaps it is your family).

-Very hierarchical.

-It’s easy to tell when you’re uncomfortable.

-You work well in a team. Without the help of the other members of your group, you wouldn’t know what to do.

-You are a very cooperative person and always ready to follow orders.

-You sometimes amaze people by being able to survive in harsh environments.

-What keeps you working hard is often a small prize, but one that you desire for reasons no one else can understand.

-You recycle regularly.

-When the “leader” of your group of family leaves or dies, you can get extremely unhappy and confused. It can take you quite a while to adapt.

-You’re a bit strange in the manner you deal with insults or other such “injuries”. You’re generally very sensitive, but sometimes what would hurt most people very badly doesn’t seem to affect you one bit.

-You like to learn about history; you find anything involving the past easy to understand.

-You really don’t want to offend anyone. You make sure you avoid anything that would make anyone angry.

-Considered very responsible.

-You have a schedule that you have to follow every day. You need consistency in your life.

-You can’t do your best work unless your environment is a certain way.

-Considered very successful due to your hard-working nature and great organization skills.

-Clever, you’re often hard to trick.

-Loud with an extensive vocabulary.

-[female] You can get amazingly vicious when competing for something.

-[queen]* Can be rather bossy, sometimes to the point of being a bully. Despite this, it is you that keeps the peace in your community/group.

*Queen naked mole rats differ from other females because they’re much larger.

It seems that they do, however it's 4 years old (I think it was made for the lolz too). Oh, and you'll like this one...

Ah, the balloon-soul. Balloon-souls are distant, dreamy people. They're probably the person that travels the world, searching for unknown things like the meaning of life and whatnot. They're the type of person that looks toward the horizon and says "there's something out there for me. I don't know what it is, but someday I'll fly over there and find it because that's how I roll. Or... float. Um."

Balloon-souls aren't the type of people to chase their dreams or goals; instead, they prefer to casually walk through life and wait for the good things to come to them. They have a "go with the flow" - type attitude, and it might even get on some people's nerves, because it makes them seem like they don't care about their future or what they want in life. In reality they do care; they're just more focused on living life day-by-day. Balloons know that someday, somehow, they'll get where they need to be, so they don't worry about it too much.

Balloons live their life with their heads in the clouds. They're very dreamy, distant, and may seem like they're not totally connected to reality. They're definitely not grounded people, or realists. Some people may think of them as air-headed because they seem to lack seriousness, or don't seem to take life seriously. This is only partially true; they can be a bit scatter-brained, and would rather focus on their inner world than the world around them, but in truth they just think about life differently than most people.

Balloons have a slow thought process, and need time to ponder the solution to a problem. They are easily distracted and their thoughts may have the tendency to float away, but if they make an effort to keep their feet on the ground and focus, they're amazing out-of-the-box thinkers.

Balloon-souls are empathetic and care about other people and their emotions, but rarely show it. They seem emotionally and mentally distant, even with their loved ones. They try to distance themselves and not become too emotionally invested in people's feelings, though it may be difficult for them.

Balloons are sensitive people. They are thin-skinned, and do not do well under stress. It doesn't take too much to get them to their breaking point, and when that happens they pop!, which may take many people by surprise. When too overwhelmed, they'll explode at anyone nearby. they really aren't mean people, but you don't want to be around when one is pushed to their breaking point. Balloons, being so sensitive, need to be handled carefully. They don't take well to harsh words or being treated unfairly. They do not do very well under pressure and don't like deadlines.

Balloon-souls don't like feeling tied-down by anyone or anything, but may find it hard to get away from what is holding them back. They like being free to experience anything they want, whenever they want.

Balloons, even though they're not terribly social, find strength in numbers. They feel much safer and protected when in a large group. Surprisingly, when with other like-minded people working toward a common goal, they can be great team workers.

An unhealthy balloon-soul is even more withdrawn and distant than a healthy one. They're there physically, but not mentally or emotionally. They don't want to go out and would rather stay in their home, hiding from the world. They may even seem physically ill, deflated, not wanting to move around or do anything.

(oh yeah, I'm totally settled as a balloon. That's perfectly legit.

Ok, I'm done. They can have their daemon thing and I hope they enjoy it. I won't even try to make fun of it anymore.

  • 2 weeks later...

It would be interesting to communicate some with anyone in the daemon community. Share our individual psychological findings and what not.

Lol hi I've been a part of their community for 6+ years and came here to see How tulpa techniques work out for me. :9 we talk much over forms and daemons but not the actual mechanics of relationship unlike here. Its refreshing. ;) and no not everyone has a charismatic one. Unless you think hellbenders are cute.

Okay now that I have time to do a decent post:

I believe that Dæmons are also minds in the same way tulpae (and probably soulbound's companions) are. We are just calling them differently because we came from different communities and places and so we have a different perspective on this. Too bad their community seems nearly dead, so we won't be able to get more people here, but even then we can potentially learn from them.

Lol, we're really active but the YOURDAEMONS proboards is old as dirt. We're not there any more lmao.

Can you explain how does an animal form make them able to learn about themselves, while others don't? I think the reason why they chose the form is because of the trilogy, not because the form matters in some way.

It gives you a very undiluted look at yourself. We take the form finding part veryseriousTM. We don't take forms because they're cool, or we like them, or we just vaguley idolize them in a symbolic sense. A lot of time, in some cases -years- go into this. We don't generally use the trilogy version of this, as phillip pullman dictates your settled form is as soon as your balls drop and its the last form your daemon takes. Lmao. Not practical, as most personality changing takes place between the ages of 13-18. The form is something that encompasses your personality.

That being said, I mean completely encompass. Unhealthy, good things, the tendency you have to be a little shit - there's an animal for that. Trust me ;) That's the biggest thing for people to wrap their head around. You're not so unique there isn't something that fits you because you're 13 and on the internet. As for personality growth - recognition of a settled form lets your good and bad things sit with you. I am aggressive to a fault. Grizzlies ain't no pussys, but they're not terribly smart. Dumb things get shot from behind while looking down at their trails. It's like any personality typing system - which essentially we are just with the added bonus of companionship of a daemon.

I read a bit, but I still don't understand why they only limit themselves only to animals, because you could use similar symbolism logic on other beings as well.

Again, its a typing system. You can do whatever you want, we don't give an eff. I'm also an 8w9, syltherpuff, and an ISTP.

Our analysis vary. A lot of the older ones from when the community was younger suck. Really bad. They're really literally, we've defiently evolved and grew as a community. And no, not everyone is a wolf or a tiger. One of my good friends is a violin mantis ;) and the other a violet turaco. What up hipster species.

I think our biggest difference in our communities is that daemons are internal. We do not perceive them to different from us, while tulpae are considered external and created. Daemons are extension of human thoughtprocess, the conscience which over time grows a personality ;) - but are not on par 'created' and 'forced' into existence. We have no forcing sessions because daemons are just one day assumed into existence as if its the most natural thing in the world and I guess to borrow a phrase you guys throw around "if you believe it, it is. "

They feel through us, see through us, don't need to sleep or live in a wonderland because they're beside us - thought some people use a headspace for funsies! They don't recall memories any better than we do really, because they are limited by our own minds capacity. And when I used him as a magic alarm he claimed he let me over sleep because he ain't my goddamn slave ahaha.

And no we're not cultish and believe every1 has demon must evalgeical ittttt!!

We have no forcing for their 'thoughts' as they're already inside the humans head waiting to be plucked out and recognized. A lot of you actually talk to what we believe to be 'daemon' thought, aka that first kneejerk thought to something that comes too fast to be parroted. We don't have parroting issues, because we don't over think it. We don't sit and do long personality sessions. We do I guess what you call 'passive forcing' a lot. They all have their own personalities that generally shape them selves over time.

To boot, daemons aren't made to fill a role. I've noticed a lot of tulpa are made to fill a social void with some sexual undertones that cause problems later on. There is literally none of this in our community. o.O

We do however lovveeeee your visual techinques ;) Which is why I wandered over here in the first place.

I don´t think there´s that big of a difference between the two communities from what i´m seeing, apart from the methods and the people that are drawn to it.

Tulpae draw in a lot of people that are lonely or want to forget about the past because most tulpae seem to be able to access memories (which would allow them to understand the person) and alter them if necessary.

Despite the different communities, i pretty much think tulpae and daemons are the same thing: An entity created by the brain.

Like Phi likes to constantly say "The mind is capable of more than you could ever imagine"

If you think of your "entity" as a companion of it´s own will that is just there that won´t do what you say just because you ask it to, then it´s going to turn out like that.

If you believe that your "entity" goes off to do it´s own things when you aren´t interacting with it and that it wants to help you because it cares for you, then it´s properly going to.

It´s bound by the boundaries you put it in.

De bedste og smukkeste ting i verden kan hverken ses eller røres, de må opleves med hjertet.

There's really not that big of a difference, just we have a whole culture attached of form finding vs creating a form. That and daemons I've noticed are a little more enterally intune with people. I.e. My daemon complains that he's tired when I need sleep and go to bed, or says he's hungry when I am and for me get some fucking takeout you limp noodle to go eat. Generally small things internal vs external and other dumb shit. And they don't have to get taught things again they know to our brains extent, I've noticed its a trend to teach things or withhold memories or 'tulpa can turn' unless this notion is outdated. Daemons however have access to all these things already. You guy's whole process of feels so unnecessarily complex though, and it seems a lot of people are worried about doing stuff wrong oO I think that will steamline with time though as your community grows.

Its sort of just potato potahto.

Tulpa, mental flygia, soulbonds, headmates, daemons are basically the same communicative thing just all under different names.

Some people do it, some people don´t (people are moving away from it rapidly it seems), i kinda just expected my tupperware to be a top notch product from the start and it hasn´t failed on anything yet, which further supports the idea that it´s all about what limits you set.

Also, the fear is because of some of the initial ideas people had.

They figured that if you did certain things you would end up killing your tulpa/making it a lifeless object.

Again, people seem to be moving away from it.

De bedste og smukkeste ting i verden kan hverken ses eller røres, de må opleves med hjertet.

I'm glad there isn't any kind of animosity or ridicule here, which I on all honesty was expecting as its what we get with us and the rest of the internet.

But yeah, your community is pretty young. I suspect that as time moves on a lot of older ideas will be replaced.

daemon, soulbonds. Seems to all be different favors for the same thing. the Tulpa

Interesting, yes, but not very surprising. Hell, you could argue that tulpae have been around since ancient Greece when the first muse was created in some poet's mind.

I will add that I didn't actually create my tulpae with any specific purpose in mind (apart from companionship), but they later took up roles in my life as they saw fit. Luna (who is one of my tulpae) practically runs my life for me now, always telling me what to do and how to go about it, and she's definitely created a major change in my life for the better. But when I made her six years ago it was to see what would happen if you put two tulpae who were polar opposites together in the same mindscape. Of course, I had no idea what a tulpa even was back then, and as someone above me mentioned it did indeed take years for them to have all the capacities that a tulpa does.
