What is it Like to Have Your Tulpa Active All the Time? How do You Think it Works?

Jaeth asked me the following:

Quote

How does it feel to keep a tulpa active ? Do you feel it's presence in your mind, or something ?

And I explained to them I don't know because I don't have first hand experience with it and I don't know much about other's experiences with it. The idea of being around all the time or a 24/7 tulpa was something I personally wanted to avoid. There are times where Gray needs space, and I found always being around would be super distracting and detrimental. As a result, I never looked far into the concept beyond parallel processing (and I can't do that either!)

I found this thread where some hosts reported their tulpa always being around, but I would like to know more about the experience.

If you have a tulpa that never goes dormant, what is it like?

Since I don't know if everyone has a tulpa who can do this, I don't mind people sharing how they think a 24/7 tulpa works.

I think a 24/7 tulpa would be more sophisticated than having triggers alone. I have the same thought Jaeth has, it's like the feeling your tulpa is there but it never goes away. I wonder if it would also feel like your tulpa is listening all of the time, which in my opinion would get a little creepy.

I don't actually associate this concept with parallel processing because a lot of the time, I would think a tulpa is in their wonderland and not actually with their host. While I'm assuming this concept seems pretty similar to parallel processing, it feels more like a tulpa is just stuck watching rather than they have something else to do.

I'm an old enough tulpa I can accidentally contribute to a conversation without trying to, but I don't consider myself to be a 24/7 tulpa. At worst, Gray will struggle with my thoughts tangling with his or him talking to my ghost (or the brain simulating my thoughts).

I also posted this on Reddit.

Myself and my two tulpas are "always around" in the sense that we don't really use our mental space for anything other than fun. Usually even when dormant they are literally speaking in the same room with me and just report a loss of awareness when they are dormant, but they are still present, in a sense, and know what has occurred due to perpetually being associated with my perspective without any need to "catch up" like some tulpamancers seem to report as long as they don't intentionally distance themselves from me and leave, which is the exception rather than the norm.

But in terms of literally always active? Definitely not. In fact I don't think that any identity is always active, even the host/me. I suspect that identities are only used in certain circumstances in the brain and not necessarily in all.

Zen - Host. My history includes an interest in different forms of magic and Paganism, then Buddhism, then finally hypnosis through a more Atheistic lens.

Rhys - Tulpa. Initially a literary thoughtform of my own creation produced completely by accident in a period of intense writing that spanned roughly three months.

Asterion - Tulpa. Literary, but not of my making. He is Asterion Minoides of Krete, The Minotaur. I just think he's neat.

Other inactive thoughtforms include Mika - The first fully homegrown tupper made with tulpamancy.
Lukas - The eldest, initially abandoned and remade long after everyone else.
Night - The Shadow Self embodied. He's a spooky wizard, and like me very full of himself.

Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.

PPL#2 is that even though it's labled co-fronting because co-fronting is basically what we did for a long time, now it's more passive but still always-on. I have gone dormant but only with Joy usually, and Ren that one time. Joy loves us now, lol.

I don't think I'd want to be active all the time. Phil has certain activities and interests I don't want to be involved in, but I want him to feel like he has to give them up, so I go inactive during those times. I'm always reachable though; all he has to do is call me and I'm right there.

I'd say my tulpa is active most of the time if not all of the time, unless I want alone time. When I say active I mean I feel her presence unless I ask for her to leave me alone. There'll be periods where hours will go by and then she'll comment on something like, "You're doing good!" I obviously respond, "Oh, you're still there."

I'm fine with it cause I'm usually talking to her all the time anyway. Even something demanding like a hobby, if I'm having trouble with something we'll brainstorm together and that ends up helping me a lot. She says shes fine with it, so I'm okay with this.

To be honest, I don't think any of us are "always on." I see how it wears on Darron. Even being around as long as I have, I still get winded sometimes and prefer to sit with Darron and chime in. He's free entertainment. 😉

Joy was like this, but SheShe isn't so there was a trade off there. She likes being part of SheShe more even if that means she has to experience things she wouldn't choose to. That said, there's always a choice in her hands to leave the merge at certain times, but instead she's given up wanting to.

Hello we are Phoenix Leigh. We can function as conjoined twins controlling the body simultaneously,  only for short periods though cos it is exhausting. We learned how real conjoined twins functioned especially where they like shared one arm or one leg each.  We just don't have our own heads and have to share that too!!!

Usually host is up front but she's happy to swap if I want to do something.

We have been together though since the host's childhood and the body is now in its 50's. We often wonder if we were twins in a past life or something as the bond has always been more intense than 'friends' or 'siblings' there's something else. We literally can't function without each other.

Thank you for the replies guys. I showed Jaeth, and he asked about if you can do this, how did you achieve it? Do you have any ideas on different ways to achieve it?

I wondered if having an annoying stimulus constantly remind you to check on your tulpa would help, but the more I thought about it the more I wasn't sure it would work. For instance, you could have an itchy wrist band, but overtime would that stop working because it's a constant stimulus? While typing this, I wondered about having a computer program that randomly makes annoying noises for every random number of seconds, but I don't know if it's constant enough? I also wonder if such a stimulus would be too distracting in the first place?

I don't know how conjoined twins work, but I have achieved this state with Gray before. We call it "switching-based co-fronting" and we can't do it for more than 30 minutes. All we do is do our switching ritual, but we gain consent for both of us to switch in. And it works. The state os pretty hilarious because we can stop each other from doing things and at one point we were afraid we would fall if we didn't strategize walking. We even had to put a lot of though into washing our hands. Outside of messing around to though, we don't have much intention to develop this outside of using it as a plan B for achieving parallel processing.

We found we could do it quite by chance years ago. I had a medical incident and woke up barely able to walk and had to go to hospital. We were desperate to get back out quick so Phoenix tried sliding into the body whilst I was still half asleep - just waking cos I needed a wee... we used the wheelchair they'd left by the bed to get to the toilet then once inside where no-one could see we tried walking together using the chair like a rollator (pushing it). we got back to the bed that way.

Once everyone was awake and nurse came round we showed them (though of course I never mentioned having my mum blended inside with me!) and after seeing a doctor and having had an MRI done they sent us home with crutches.  We had to do physio and with 2 in the body it seemed to make us feel stronger, eventually I could walk again without Phoenix controlling one side for me and regained fitness...until our late 40's when arthritis symptoms started coming every winter then being there all year round (now, in my 50's).

We're still not sure what happened the first time...some kind of neurological attack we had severe balance for a while and got 'intention tremor' when trying to do anything fiddly, but that side of things improved with neuro-physio.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to make as much difference to the arthritis pain or inflammation whether I'm in the body myself or we're co-piloting, although it does give a more emotional/mental feeling of 'having a bit more strength' to deal with walking a few steps (often with crutches again if knees are that bad, (cos its the weight bearing that is particularly painful).

I don't know if I'll need knee replacements at some point in the future but I'm not risking it right in the middle of a pandemic! ..so use a wheelchair/mobility scooter to take the pressure off the knees for most of the day. (like distance things..having to get the dog out, go shopping etc that would leave us in a great deal more pain).
