Guest applesauce99 October 1, 2012 October 1, 2012 I've heard of people's online identities becoming tulpae, what about just an alternate personality in the first place? Also, I've seen talk of RP'ing a tulpa's personality as helpful...not sure if related or two questions in one.
QB2 October 1, 2012 October 1, 2012 I definitely see the former being a thing - I can sometimes act wildly different under different internet identities, so much that some of my identities legitimately love types of food that I usually don't... except while I'm posting under that name. Brains are funny like that. The above post does not contain facts. q2's the host, QB's the tulpa.
Guest applesauce99 October 2, 2012 October 2, 2012 How do you think someone would go about 'accidentally a tulpa' from an online personality? Would the personality itself just be its own conscious? This is very interesting to me...
QB2 October 2, 2012 October 2, 2012 I guess they would just "become the mask" while wearing the mask, until the mask is just totally different from them in every way. Keep getting put into situations where you have to act different than your "main identity" while under that name... eventually you'll have nothing in common with this personality. And then it wouldn't be hard to take what you know of them and build a tulpa from the blueprints. In theory. The above post does not contain facts. q2's the host, QB's the tulpa.
Natasha October 2, 2012 October 2, 2012 It think having a different identity in certain situations like you´re describe it, is better classified as schizophrenia. I doubt you will ever get a tulpa out of it as you are actively acting in the different identity´s place AKA creating a split personality not cultivating a new separate one. I highly doubt it will ever develop into something serious though (unless you have close relatives with schizophrenia) De bedste og smukkeste ting i verden kan hverken ses eller røres, de må opleves med hjertet.
Bask October 2, 2012 October 2, 2012 It think having a different identity in certain situations like you´re describe it, is better classified as schizophrenia. That is not schizophrenia is the slightest. There are many social masks people adopt of their lifetime. I'm personally more outgoing with certain groups of people, in certain situations I adopt a colder persona. I change interests or needs as a 'backstory' when I'm dropping by some website where I know I'm not going to stay long or a group of strangers I don't give two shits about. Everyone does something like this to a degree. The best example in women is what they tell their hairdresser. This is a very human thing to do - and has nothing to do with a genetic caused pysch disorder that has to do with sense and thought processing.
Oguigi October 2, 2012 October 2, 2012 personality becoming tulpae... Nope i have to disagree, i base this on the idea that you wear a different "social mask" when you are behaving differently, it's not like switching with a real tulpa which would yeild the same effect to only a much more extreme level. pix: Link Diary: http://ponystasha.tumblr.com Koomer.

Yeah identity management isnt anything of a disorder, we all do it. If my question needed clarification, I guess it would be more of: If we build a personality/identity consciously and add to it as if it were another person, not just another mask, then could it eventually start to add things to itself by itself. Italics for emphasis ftw
Bask October 3, 2012 October 3, 2012 My post was just in regards to something natasha said. Sorry I didn't make that clear ^^;
Kiahdaj October 3, 2012 October 3, 2012 When will people understand that Schizophrenia has nothing to do with having multiple personalities!? "If this can be avoided, it should. If it can't, then it would be better if it could be. If it happened and you're thinking back to it, try and think back further. Try not to avoid it with your mind. If any of this is possible, it may be helpful. If not, it won't be."
