A quick googling of the term gives way more supernatural stuff than the psychological entities we generally see them as. Has anyone considered any other terms for what they are without such a supernatural connotation?

EDIT²: "Dæmians and Dæmons" are more like a personification of your subconscious. They differ from Tulpae, in some way. If i recall that right... Also theres a whole different community behind this.

They say great science is built on the shoulders of giants - not here.

At Tulpa.info we do all our science from scratch; no hand holding.

Head people.

Also no no no don't even try bringing soul-bonders into this. Sasugokuroth Prime is my real boyfriend, really! He came from his dimension that really exists to live with me because he loves me!

We've had this thread before. More than once, iirc.

The name isn't going to change solely for SEO purposes.

soul bonders

Soul bonders are more believable than a lot of the shit on this site.

daemons

Daemons are a different but related concept. What we have are not daemons.

Of those, only 'thoughtforms' comes anywhere near being related to what we have.

I think familiar is pretty close. The book I made my first on purpose tulpa from called them spirit familiars.

Familiars - am I a wizard now?

Thought forms - I am fairlly satisfied with this one.

Servitors - Even ignoring the common usage of the term in the community, it implies the host basically owns it.

Sigils - Haven't I heard this in the context of magical runes among neo pagans?

Golems - Sounds soul-less...

Elementals - Weren't we going for something less supernatural?

Negatives - Maybe this one bares some explaination?

Watchers - Not very accurate IMO.

Artificial Constructs - The term Mental Construct might work, otherwise it just sounds like a robot or something without implying the mental nature at all.

Imprint - See Negatives.

Soulbonds - See Elementals..

I've heard headmate occasionally, which I like if not for the fact that it applies as well(if not better) to natural multiples.

A Familiar by popular deffanition, is a being who possesses "magic" powers and psychic abilities and uses those powers to aid a Witch in witchcraft. There are two common types of Familiars: Spirit Familiars and Animal Familiars. Both are very different from each other. Spirit Familiars (also called Faerie Familiars or Elementals) are non human beings, often with demi-god like abilities. Angels, Faeries, Aliens, Poltergeists, Demons, and Ghosts are all considered to be types of Spirit Familiars, although what defines a spirit is itself in question. Most trains of thought, consider a spirit to be a being who is without physical form, however there are thousands of accounts of both Faeries and Angels who had solid physical bodies, and some evidence suggesting that Faeries and Angels are born and die, just as Humans do.

Spirit familiars can be the spirits of animals that have once lived or they can be those animal spirits a witch or magician has come into contact with through divination, astral travel or other extra sensory communications.

These beings have either lived as animals in a past incarnation (and thus contain all the species' totem characteristics) or they exist as spirit "governors" of a sort. They watch over and govern the spirits of their species in between incarnations. They also teach the attributes of their species to magicians, witches, shamans and other seekers of arcane and esoteric knowledge.
