What did the tibetans knew about tulpae?

I read somewhere that Tibetan monks would have visualized sex with a "Dakini" whilst avoiding firing the yogurt cannon at all costs. Whether the Dakini was sentient or not, I don't know. They also have this technique called deity meditation which seems like a modified way to create a tulpa but with the intent of reaching enlightenment.
