Sleep Paralysis Testing

I'm going to be conducting Sleep Paralysis tests to see if being bodily paralyzed and only focusing on my mind will increase my abilities in tulpaforcing. (This is mainly due to reading NesterBones' PR and him mentioning sleep paralysis = me needing to test it.)

My first attempt was a few hours ago and I admit it may have been hindered a bit due to the fear I had, but I tried to suppress any negative thoughts. My arms and hands went numb, similar to what I've felt while doing pony hypnosis. I heard a static/buzzing noise in my ear and I had read it's best to focus in on this noise to make the process easier, so I did. My fingers also twitched a few times.

When I went to move again, I lifted my head slowly and it felt a bit like someone was pressing down on my head like it didn't want me to sit up. I slowly moved my toes and feet and then worked my way to moving my arms and legs. For several moments I could only slightly move them, they felt heavy and uncooperative but I was eventually able to regain complete control over my body.

While I never did feel a state of actual paralysis, the event was interesting and I'm hoping to try again tomorrow when I get home from school (or at night if the parents are home and being loud and distracting me.).

I had this today when I woke up. By 'increase your abilities in tulpa forcing' do you mean permanently or just during the period of sleep paralysis? Because I think any gain would not be worth the time and effort, you could probably just improve forcing by practicing a little longer then usual.

Otherwise an increase during sleep paralysis would probably not be helpful because you wouldn't know what was going on, and secondly it wears off after a few minuets... Good luck with science in any case.

During the paralysis period.

While this is true, I like finding alternate methods that can work as well.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean here. You mean what goes on with my body or with my mind? The point of sleep paralysis is to let go of your body and only focus on your mind.

I find it interesting as well. If you don't mind sharing, are there any things you do pre-paralysis to prep yourself and/or what kinds of sensations have you felt while inducing? Tips for someone who's only done it once.

Sorry, I meant when you actually wake up and experience sleep paralysis you'll be so out of it that you won't be able to choose visualization until you get your bearings. Which could take until the experience is over.

Like I say it's an interesting experiment but I think it's just not practical. Unless you're just doing it to see if there IS a difference, in that case go forth in the name of science.

I never actually fall asleep though. It's more like tricking your brain into THINKING you're asleep, however your eyes don't even have to be closed and you never fall asleep. It does require being able to make your body go close to completely limp. I have some experience with that via hypnosis practice, so I'm not sure how easy that is for other people.

I usually just lay on my back until I get the urge to change position, and then I don't. Supposedly it's your brain 'checking' to see if you're asleep. Then I relax all of my muscles including my tongue and jaw, and then I wait.

I've only done it about three times, and the first two caused me to hallucinate some really weird shit, and it was a bit difficult to stay calm and focused. The third time was a bit more relaxed, and I didn't hallucinate at all.

For me, the feeling of your body 'locking up' slowly gets stronger until you are unmoving. A lot of people compare it to a weight being placed on your chest, but I speculate that is because breathing slows down when you are sleeping, and you may become panicked or excited and start trying to breathe faster, but your body is trying to prevent it.

For me, I felt a very uncomfortable prescence in the room, saw some morphing black shapes, and probably the most memorable - something moving across my ceiling.

If it ever gets too intense you can always hold your breath - your body reflexively wakes up.

I've tried this a couple of times, I've only accomplished it once though. Most other times when I lose focus on my body I quickly regain focus and jerk my leg or something stupid like that.

And then it cuts to a scene where you're sitting in a padded cell.
