Phi June 5, 2012 June 5, 2012 There are two doors in a room, each which look exactly the same. However, one leads to an evil old man who will lock the tulpa out of the creator's memories, and the other leads to a nice old man that will open up the creator's memories to the tulpa. Once the tulpa opens a door, it must go through it and see the old man. There is also no way to see what is inside the door without going in. In front of each door is a guard, each which looks exactly the same. However, one guard always tells the truth to the tulpa, and the other guard always tells a lie to the tulpa. The guard which always lies is not necessarily in front of the door that leads to the evil old man, and vice-versa. In other words, each guard may be in front of either of the two doors. The tulpa may ask one question, and they may ask it to either one of the two guards, but not both. They may not trick the guard into answering more than one question. Once they ask the question, they must go through a door. Additionally, both guards are invisible, and only the tulpa can see them, hear them, etc. Thus, if the tulpa asks the guard a question about the other guard, it will lead to the answer, "what guard?" The evil old man has also placed a spell on the tulpa, forbidding them to use any hypothetical or "what if" questions to the guards. Thus, the tulpa can not ask questions similar to, "If I go through this door, will I see the nice old man?"
Flower June 5, 2012 June 5, 2012 Ask one guard if he is a guard? Ask a guard if there is a old man behind this door? I must have ended up on the wrong planet. Everything here is so strange.
Phi June 5, 2012 June 5, 2012 Ask one guard if he is a guard? Ask a guard if there is a old man behind this door? >Ask one guard if he is a guard? Lying guard says no. Now your tulpa has to pick a door. Good luck. >Ask a guard if there is a old man behind this door? Truthful guard says yes OR lying guard says no. Now pick a door. Your tulpa is forever locked away from your memories.
Flower June 5, 2012 June 5, 2012 Oh crap, didn't notice the thing about them not being necessarily in front of bla bla door.... You edited that in, didn't you?!? No you didn't.... Just me skimming.. And still, there is a 50/50 chance that he may still get my memories! HA! I must have ended up on the wrong planet. Everything here is so strange.

I like this altered one because a lot of people have already heard the original, and know the answer just because that have heard it. Practically no one has heard the altered version yet.
Flower June 5, 2012 June 5, 2012 Did I mention that my Tulpa has a gambling addiction? I must have ended up on the wrong planet. Everything here is so strange.
