I have always wondered about supernatural creatures such as gods, monsters, or even fictional characters and thought that maybe they exist or only exist because we believe in them. People would put their thoughts or energy into them and the more they feed this creation the stronger it gets until it no longer needs the creators anymore or something.

An example would be like a deity whose power depends on the worship or faith in the believers which would explain why the Judeo-Christian God is so powerful, while other pagan gods are not. Even entities like demons, most likely only exist simply because we conjure up their forms in our minds, give them attention and feed them unknowingly through our negative thoughts or whatnot. Also, when a tulpa like this is forgotten, like let us say no one believes in it anymore, it goes to a universal wonderland or limbo where others like it reside.

All this could extend to the universe and afterlife itself in that it only exists because we believe in it and give it form hence belief is everything or maybe we all just exist because something made us through its faith or willpower. In effect everything around us or ourselves could just be tulpas. I know I may be over thinking things now until it is no longer tulpa related, but what do you think about all this? Lastly, I apologize if a similar thread like this has been made already.

And you raise an interesting point, certainly if gods were created by man, then they would derive their power from faith. But a god that doesn't receive faith can still self-perpetuate its existence, which is something that even a tulpa can do.

Have you ever read American Gods, by Neil Gaiman? This idea is presented at length in that book :) It's a very interesting read.

This is something I've tried to wrap my mind around many times. When I read about the weird things that happen on a quantum level, like particles changing their behaviour based on whether or not they are observed, makes me wonder just how much the simple act of me observing and believing in my surroundings influences them.

What if the Gods aren't like tulpae, and it's the other way around? Maybe God is just part of an insanely advanced species, and this entire universe is His wonderland. Maybe we are all tulpae in a way, and our surroundings are the only parts of the wonderland we need to manifest at any given time.

If you read about the process for a magician to contact his-her higher guardian angel, it sounds roughly equivalent to the process it would take to make an HGA tulpa. Special diet and special rituals for months and months. So what exactly are we creating and are we fully aware of it? And what are the limits?

Sounds like what is discussed in 'the slender effect'

A tl;dr of slender effect

>slender is real

>we made him by believing in him

I have not read it, but I heard how the idea of gods feeding on their follower's faith was used in it, which is why these New American Gods formed. Also, other works of fiction such as Supernatural in the episode "Hell House," comic books in general, and even South Park in "Imaginationland," all showed tulpas manifesting due to people's thoughts either in our world or some other dimension.

What is an HGA tulpa?

HGA stands for a holy guardian angel which different people had varying views on such as how to invoke them and whatnot.

American Gods was a much better story than "Hell House" or "Imagination Land."

Hey Ashikael, on a similar vein I am currently reading through Tim Allen's second book, "I'm Not Really Here." In that book, Tim points out the same similarities between human existence in quantum physics and Eastern Religions. He particularly gravitates towards a Hindu concept in which we are all God in human form and in a simulation so potent that we have forgotten our true identity. It's a fun read also.

my thoughtform = Isis

her appearance = stylized rabbit with dark fur and glowing eyes

her developmental stage = imaginary friend

What do you guys think happened to the old Roman pantheon after people abandoned them? Any chance they're still alive out there somewhere? Because I think I may have spoken to Luna several times in the past years (the moon goddess, not the tulpa).
