Transactive memory is defined as "A shared system for remembering information that enables multiple people to remember information together more efficiently than they could do so alone." It is posited that this system allows for individuals in a group to remember pieces of a large body of information by dividing it up based on expertise and/or areas of interest.

Perhaps it is the case that this phenomenon helps account for the alleged improved memory of those who make tulpae, since they volunteer themselves to help the host remember things that they might not have if they were working alone, in effect expanding the host's ability to remember or their knowledge base.

My progress report

I haven't noticed any increase in memory capacity. Even when I straight up ask my tuppers what's what they rarely have an answer that surprises me- as in they tell me a piece of information I genuinely couldn't recall.

They can back me into corners in arguments though fuck sake.

Roswell's still my shopping list because I'm too lazy to write shit down myself and I always forget shit help.

I don't believe tulpae can improve our memory capacity is what I should have added. Yes, you can train your brain to become better at remembering things, but it's only while you keep the training up or keep using your memory to that extent. The improvement isn't permanent, like building muscle (to a degree, yes, muscle will degrade over time).

Meaning if tulpae are permanent, and an aid to memory, we should have improved memory all the time, without any need to practice it. This isn't the case it seems.

Have there been any studies of memory tests taken before and after tupper creation?

frt

^Nope, since a pretty big problem with doing research on tulpae right now is that there is no research that exists on them.

Well all we can do now is debate semantics and why we think this and why we think that.

Should start up a survey or whatever for new members and then compare those results to new results when they retake the test.

Brand spanking new members or new-ish members? I am new to tulpamancy, and I would be willing to participate in some case studies or experiments.

So is the idea to have people just post their results with memory increases, or what?
