Age of Emelia: Five days

I started on Emelia because I wanted a companion, someone to ponder with and talk to. I think I'll start by recalling the past few days and what I did.

Day Three

Birthday celebrations and junk. Registered here on the forums, joined the chat, went bowling with friends. Narrated to Emelia a bunch, asked her to aid me on a couple of straight swings. Came second to last by one point both games.

I tried visualizing a wonderland, but I couldn't, so I settled on a blank white area and imagined a yellow trampoline instead. No reason why, particularly.

Day Four

Mostly sat on my laptop, talked on the chat. Played Ugly Baby, narrated to Emelia about the songs I chose and the resulting levels.

Tried binaural tones for active forcing, but I was even weaker at concentrating. Maybe they only work for me while passive forcing.

Day Five

Today. Just played Portal 2, first co-op (didn't narrate to Emelia) and then started a new save on Single-Player. Narrated to her constantly during that, complaining about GLaDOS' insults and so forth.

I'll see how the rest of the day pans out.

I seem to constantly try and narrate (which I'm assuming is passive forcing), but can't concentrate on actively narrating, which I think I can only do when extremely tired. Does anyone know any tips on helping to actively force?

Meditate. Even if it 'Isn't your thing' (I'm not saying thats likley to be your answer, I just know a lot of people would dismiss the idea. Then again, this is a tulpa thread so...), give it a fair shot at least. The key thing I had to overcome when active forcing was stray thoughts, being unable to concentrate ect. and it REALLY helps you keep your focus.

I'd recommend LucidAcids guide, it's a simple form of meditation and well written:

As far as my limited knowhow goes on passive forcing, your doing it right: It's basicly constantly doing things throughout the day that reinforces the fact that theres two of you in there now.

Looking forward to seing how you get along! /creepyface

A lot of people never think to play the beats at the same time as some other medium, usually music. Could be super distracting, could be best the best thing ever. Depends, but you won't know until you give it a shot.

THAT'S YOU. THAT'S HOW DUMB YOU SOUND.

It is. Literally anytime you think of her outside of a dedicated session is passive.

You don't have to narrate during a dedicated session. Just focus as much on her as possible, and on everything else as little as possible. How you accomplish this doesn't matter- it's whatever you feel is best.

Good luck, guy.

Age of Emelia: Seven days

I'm not sure how to make progress from here.

Day 6 - Not much happened, except going to the cinema, finding out the protagonist of Epic is actually called MK, and telling Emelia "holy shit that's awesome" at most points in the movie.

I realized when I meditated that night that I'm not supposed to interweave it with forcing.

Day 7 - just gone morning. Been narrating occasionally, and feeling horrible for bringing Emelia up on Hotline Miami.

Does anyone have any tips of some sort on progress from here? I still haven't got anything from Emelia but am putting my faith into her.

I'm not getting any vocal responses from Crystal and even the headaches I got initially have stopped so I guess we're in the same situation (I'm on day 11).

Something I was advised which seems to be helping though, was to stop focusing on progression and improvement. Just visualise your Tulpa, spend time with them and reinforce the fact that they are there in your mind.

They will grow and progress in their own time I guess. Until they can talk to us and convince us themselves we just need to see them, talk to them and accept that they exist. It doesn't seem like the sort of thing that can be forced.

Question: I meditate when I force, not read anything bad about it. Is that something you've read or...?

Many recommend it as it helps concentration. You might be blocking out their voice a bit that way though.

My tip would be not to worry too much, it's perfectly normal to need a while to hear them. Might take a few months.

I constantly keep forgetting to narrate to Emelia, although I'm not sure if the gaps (about an hour to two hours) are that big a deal.

Telling her right now that the chocolates I am eating are delicious and she should be jealous of them

One important thing is not to make a very big deal out of it. Overtime you'll get better at it. It took me several months, the only thing you can effectively do is keep trying. If you want a wristband or something to remind you now and again, that cant hurt either

Either way, just keep trying, dont make a big deal and over time it becomes like a strong habit.

I think, tonight, instead of meditating and then attempting to force, I'm just going to lie back and talk to Emelia to make up for the fact I haven't narrated that much today.

This is dumb because Emelia hasn't even developed her personality yet, but for a few seconds after I woke up, I swear my thoughts were on a separate tulpa - I mumbled a name I can't remember and that her hair was green.

It's probably the result of my thinking about it yesterday or just wishful thinking, but all the same, I'm not sure.

Yesterday, I just idly talked with her instead of actively forcing, because I wanted to compensate for forgetting to narrate. Put an emphasis on the fact I was counting on her to catch my words instead of me constantly directing my thoughts at her.
