  1. 1. What is your view on Tulpa experiments?

    • They are a part of my consciousness and, if possible, any further research should be made.
    • Tulpas are companions, they should not be taken as test subjects.

I'd say tulpa are in fact companions, they have feelings and such and what you do to them will affect them. However if they give you permission, testing with/on them should be fine. Then again you can also just make a servitor with less sentience then a full tulpa to do less than ethical testing, if one really feels the need.

I don't know about anyone else... but taking a conscious, sentient being with feelings, memories and a personality and erasing its memories, personality, everything...

... the type of person who would do that isn't exactly the type of person I'd touch even with gloves on.

If I offended anyone, sorry, but not sorry.

I find the question really disgusting.

(Necroposting interesting old poll threads for new responses? Tell me it isn't so! I love it.)

I was tempted to pick number one: "They are a part of my consciousness and, if possible, any further research should be made.*" My interpretation is that Melian is an aspect of my mind, dependent apparent sentience, and illusory in nature. I still regard her as a person. I would like to know more about how this phenomenon happens in the brain and unconscious and more about the psychology behind it.

I changed my mind, to vote number 2, when I realized it meant "erasing" Melian! OH hell no!

Tulpas are companions, they should not be taken as test subjects.*

I would never allow Melian to be erased or "reset!" Never.

Honestly, in real life, I'm not one high on emotions. But resetting is crossing the line, and besides, this kind of experiment probably wouldn't bare any fruit anyway (I think I said that quote correctly..).

If we're talking about a developed tulpa, I don't think you could even successfully accomplish something like that. To even reach that point you'd have to had already invested a lot of time into the tulpa. You'd subconsciously be too attached to the tulpa to completely wipe it out, and it'd already be a large presence in the mind. Even if, somehow, you did it (but you could just retrieve it from the subconscious), that'd just be it, back to square zero with your tulpa (but they'd keep their sentience, so it would develop faster).

If it's stil in early stages of sentience, then you could probably do it with ease. Though, like I said above, it's really just back to square zero. I don't know what the point of the experiment really is.

That's just my hypothesis, at least. You couldn't convince any tulpamancer here to test it, as most are high on the moral that they should be treated as equal as a person. But when it comes to tulpamancy, we decide what the morals are. If you're reading this and you want to test how this experiment goes (which would most likely be zero), I'd recommend not letting others decide how you should treat tulpas.

I probably lost a lot of points with a lot of people.

*gallops away*!

I'm not going to listen to you guys since you are all probably just talking to yourself and don't really have a tulpa like me.

I dunno, I didn't see anything wrong with your post. Then again, I'm not a very emotional person either, so maybe we both missed something..

I don't see the point of this at all. Basically the question is, "Can you create a fully developed tulpa and then erase all the progress you've made and start over?"

I mean.. If for some strange reason both the host and the tulpa wanted this, I suppose so. But it would be hard to recreate the same tulpa without re-connecting it with all the old stuff. And above all completely pointless. I guess if you wanted a "Let's start over" type of thing for some reason, maybe..? I still feel like you'd have trouble keeping up the disconnect between new and old, though.

Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn.

Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.
