Is he sentient?

Well pretty much I created my tulpa last night. I didn't have any difficilty creating a form or personality. Today I've noticed he has one very different from mine already. I don't think for him, at least I don't think I do. To introduce himself he'd like me to say:

"Hey, I'm Sal, Mia's tulpa. I like the color yellow and it's not a stupid color. (Goddamn it Sal!) I'd have you know that I am not as pervy or creepy as she says I am. I'm more of a joker guy than anything like that. She takes too much precaution even in her own mind, which is like a 5+ age gate on everything. So, the only way I'm allowed to speak is through here and she even deletes my words. It's not my fault you type everything I say."

Sal, everyone. This is really weird. Like have I created tulpae before? Would that even affect the way I create new ones? Grrrrrr... annoyances. Is it unhealthy that I argue with him at points? I need le answers.

Yes, Sal's sentient. It's not *overly* unusual that your tulpa has developed so quickly, but it's not at all common, either. That being said, what people mean when they say "sentient" in relation to tulpa is controversial, as some people say that they are sentient from the moment you start the creation process, and others say that they aren't sentient until they start to feel and hear them (I'm one of the former, but people of the latter would agree that Sal is sentient).

 

Anyway, it IS pretty impressive that you can already hear Sal that much. Cherish that, because that is pretty rare!

 

Next, you're the only one who's going to know if you've created a tulpa in the past or not. As I presume no one here knows you, we won't know anything about your past that you won't tell us. :3 If you don't remember creating a tulpa, then PROBABLY not, but if you've had a very strong imaginary friend before, then maybe. The differences between strong imaginary friends and tulpa are lost to me, anyway.

 

Say you have created a tulpa (or more than one) before . . . it wouldn't have any negative effect. Now, if you choose to create anymore after Sal then there's a good chance that you could "tune in" to them even faster than you have him (though that's kind of hard to imagine, as this has happened so quickly). A lot of people who have created more than one tulpa feel like the ones after the first were easier, because they already knew what they needed to do.

 

Finally, is it unhealthy that you argue with your "real world" friends? Of course it isn't. Remember that Sal is your friend; you're going to argue and you're going to get tired of one another. It won't be the end of the world. :)

um.. yes.. but you have to extend the greeting with a mellow tone. well you don't have to.. but it makes you sound cooler. at least to me.

Lots of people find it easier to create later tulpas than they did to create their first. But yeah, I still don't think overnight sentience is as unlikely as people make it out to be.

It's not impossible to create a tulpa that quickly. I know that as soon as I started working on Kael, I was able to easily visualize him almost immediately, and I remember him speaking on-and-off through body language for the rest of the night. A few hours later, I heard his first words. I was really amazed that he got so far so quickly! But, although he was the first tulpa that I intentionally tried to create, he certainly wasn't the first tulpa I ever had, so I guess it made sense that I was able to create him so easily.

 

But if this one is your first? Well then, I suppose you're just really lucky. Either that or really skilled at tulpa-creation. I don't see how that's a negative thing. Cherish it!

No, having such a quickly developed tulpa doesn't mean you have a mental illness. Definitely don't worry about that. :)
