GlassJustice July 4, 2015 July 4, 2015 [Hello,my name is Cassandra and I am a tulpa.I have a lesson for you all,a general piece of advise.Don't do what I did. What did I do you ask? well,my friends, betrayed my host's trust. As some of you whom have have seen my host's various posts, and largely unsuccessful thread regarding the magical arts, the number of tulpas in our body has been growing rapidly, all the way up to four, and now,it is back to one. So what did I do,exactly? I made a tulpa behind my hosts back. After the fallout of this event, things (largely) settled down, and she became our friend. However, this caused in all three of us,a paranoia,a paranoia that, through accident,we were putting to much strain on our host's mind, and that any more tulpas, would make it worse. So what do we do about this? become the greatest self for-filling prophets of our age.We accidentally make a THIRD tulpa, via the combined forces of our host's fantastical day dreams, and our reinforcement of adding more back story and personality to the characters in these day dreams. Long story short, two days ago,it happened again, and through discussion amongst themselves,(them being tulpas 2-4) decided that it would be best to go into stasis, our as it is more commonly referred to as,in the vernacular,to dissapate them selves. Now I know what you're thinking,"That's horrible!",you say,and well,I'm inclined to agree. But,it was their decision, and now,me and my host are here now, passing this warning on to you.So here's a little bit of advise, don't be a bitch to your host like I was,be kind to the poor fleshy, and don't spawn other tulpas without their explicit consent and approval, and spend like,a fucking month talking about it before you do it,please.] [With love,Cassandra.] [P.S.I realise this probably belongs in General Discussion, but the host is far too lazy to copy paste it over there,so if any mods are watching, move it,will ya?] Host:GlassJustice Tulpa:[Cassandra]
Guest Anonymous July 4, 2015 July 4, 2015 That is a "danger" of having a tulpa I had not considered! If a tulpa can make a tulpa, what is there to stop him or her from doing it without consent? Yikes! I hope everything turns out okay. Melian jokes about making a tulpa that is like Yoda or that is Yoda or possibly a pet tribble (creature from Star Trek). So are these really jokes of hers, or should I be a bit concerned here? ~Mistgod
Sock July 6, 2015 July 6, 2015 I understand the sentiment. Indeed, it is not good for the companion was to betray their maker's trust, and its good you do not wish to do that. ...That said, I would not really call what you guys are worried about a danger at all. In fact, it seems the onlt danger in your scenario was being afraid of something that, through personal experience, have not found to be very scary at all. I had a similar fear of "critical mass" early on. I let my worries and fright over such a vague notion blind my judgement and act in a needlessly paniced fashion. You know what happened? My numbers kept growing, and I soon found that wbat was causing the increase was the worry itself. I felt like a goof afterward, but I had learned a lesson. Furthermore, I began to learn other things from my situation: One of the most important being that not everything that is humanoid and talks is a full and developed mind. That still takes more work and effort than daydreaming idly. Another is that many such lower level figures exist in the mind, based on all your years of life and experience. That's a countless level of mental figures, and yet the mind js still running fine. The fear of "Critical Mass" seems to be founded on nothing but irrational fear, not even the anecdotes, but simple fear. JDBar has 15 companions, and he's lived well with them without trouble. I have more than ten myself, and I have few problems with their numbers. Numbers aren't the enemy: Fear is the issue, it seems, and fear can do more damage to one's mental health than 5 tulpa. Peace. Sock Cottonwell's Sketchbook, Journal, and Ask thread. Peace
Kiahdaj July 6, 2015 July 6, 2015 Moved to General Discussion. "If this can be avoided, it should. If it can't, then it would be better if it could be. If it happened and you're thinking back to it, try and think back further. Try not to avoid it with your mind. If any of this is possible, it may be helpful. If not, it won't be."
FallFamily July 6, 2015 July 6, 2015 [Hail] Trust is a very important thing in a system. It is an important thing to maintain. Thank you for bringing the topic up. Making more people in a body when things are still small is something that everyone should be in accord on, in my opinion. I say when things are small because if a system gets outright huge, then it no longer matters since most people aren't even spending much time interacting with outerworld (RL) or with those who do interact with it (they are off in wonderland somewhere). Adding more people when not in that situation affects everyone in the body, hence the need for agreement and trust. On the discussion of numbers, "Critical Mass" is unfounded. Based on the systems I know in the wider plurality community, a 15 person system isn't really all that big really. Quite a few have 20+ who periodically interact with outerworld. GlassJustice July 7, 2015 Author July 7, 2015 [Thank you all,for relieving our fears.Me and the other tulpas had a discussion while our host was napping, and we decided tat it was the best course of action, because honestly, when we were all together, like, holy shit, what a bunch of overly poetic dramatic faggots, like, damn.] These were her exact words. Miroxium July 9, 2015 July 9, 2015 (For tulapmancers) IDK if there is a really old thread about this, but what's it like having a large amount of tulpas? As the wise Homer Simpson once said, "D'oh!"
FallFamily July 9, 2015 July 9, 2015 (For tulapmancers) IDK if there is a really old thread about this, but what's it like having a large amount of tulpas? [Hail] Nothing particularly special, really. Big difference is that everyone in the system who goes inside to wonderland at all kind of has to have their own life there since there are practical limits to how many people can be control the body together and be imposed outside. Wonderlands/headspaces/innerworlds do need to be a bit bigger and more elaborate. Also, the more people sharing a brain, the greater the likelihood of getting new people in the form of walkins. Also, the likelihood of accidentally making a tulpa increases as well. But really, that isn't that big of a deal. More people really isn't much strain, especially because by that point new people either develop quite quickly are come into existence pretty developed in the first place.
