Crescendo December 23, 2015 December 23, 2015 Hey guys! Today I noticed how strange it sometimes feels to say "I". Yesterday, while talking to a friend, I had to remind myself multiple times to not use "we" and "us" - it just started to feel right for me. The funny thing is, I was always the one who thought it was really weird to talk in the plural form, like whenever I was on the chat I was super uncomfortable with using it when approaching someone. And now I'm actually doing it myself, without really noticing. ..I really should be careful with that though, or the doctors here will think I'm either psychotic or having DID. :D Did you experience something like that too? And do you sometimes struggle to use the "right" form in real life? How do you feel about people using the plural form? The idea is to remain in a state of constant departure, while always arriving. Maja will either use name tags, [brackets] or this colour.
IBreakGames December 23, 2015 December 23, 2015 I think there's been a few instances, but for the most part we keep a conscious effort to avoid that if we can. Social stigma is unfortunately too stronk. I'm IBreakGames, a genuine dude. We gave up on using different colors for each of us, so there's Al, Ollie, and Eva. We're all rabbits, get over it.
Guest Anonymous December 23, 2015 December 23, 2015 In front of those who know about Rina, I will of course use "we" and "us" (like, as long as it's appropriate, of course). And in front of those who don't, I use "I" and "me". I did slip up once though, when I talked to my father, and said "we" instead of "I"... I immediately said "uh, I meant I" or so, though. :D At least that's the only slip-up I actually noticed. I hope it was the only one! xD Greets, AG
Crescendo December 23, 2015 Author December 23, 2015 Glad to hear I'm not the only one. xD Goddammit, talking like a normal person gets really hard once you get a tulpa! The idea is to remain in a state of constant departure, while always arriving. Maja will either use name tags, [brackets] or this colour.
Guest Anonymous December 23, 2015 December 23, 2015 Eeh, not really. Has nothing to do with normal! It's just that - I mean, when I did something together with Rina, then of course I'm naturally inclined to say "we"! xD Greets, AG PS: This is more of a lounge thing, though.
NoneFromHell December 23, 2015 December 23, 2015 I have pretty much the opposite effect. I always get a weird feeling when someone here refers to us as "they", which makes sense of course. It is still weird. But sometimes i need to stop myself from accidentally talking about her to others. (P.S. technically this is a tulpa-related on-topic question, even though it is more about a psychological side effect of having a tulpa. It is still different from threads like "What books do your tulpas like?" if you ask me, so I won't move it unless people feel like this is really unfitting for general discussion.) Tulpa: Alice Form: Realistic Humanoid/Demonic Creation She may or may not talk here, depends on her.
FadingSpectrum December 23, 2015 December 23, 2015 Fade: It's a little like swearing is for me! When writing, I'm used to doing it - using "we", or saying "fuck" - so that happens a lot by mistake. I sometimes have to go back and correct things to make sure there aren't any swears or "we"s dropped, if it's a work of writing that shouldn't have that in it, like an essay. But in the physical world, actually talking? I know people would give me a funny look, and the threat of actually doing it is too much. So, I'm used to saying "I" and keeping my language clean when talking, and nothing ever slips out. It's weird. A queer soulbonding system with tulpamantic influences.
FallFamily December 23, 2015 December 23, 2015 [Tri] Well, we default to we/us/our/ours except around people in work and legal contexts. This is more due to us being a three tulpa subsystem than anything. We have occasionally slipped up at work, but rarely. Outside of work, we use we almost exclusively, like around the house and when shopping with our partner system. Lacquer December 23, 2015 December 23, 2015 I'm curious about the contexts in which you all say "we" or "I". I could understand saying "we" if you said "we want ____" after deliberating among yourselves before answering, and saying "I" if you said "I want ____" when it's just the host saying it, but it sounds like some of you might say "we" for both of those situations.
Guest Anonymous December 23, 2015 December 23, 2015 Well, like I pointed out, I only say "we" when it's appropriate. When I'm working on my novel stuff, then "I" am writing, not "we". But when Rina and I feel like eating some kickass ravioli, then that's a clear case of "we". I mean - isn't it a bit of a weird thing to discuss? xD A host and a tulpa are one plus one equals two people, and "I", "we", "they", "he", "she", "us", "them", "me"... all these can apply to a host and tulpa just as well as they can apply to any other random two people. So... it really is sort of a weird thing to discuss like this! :D Greets, AG
