Do your tulpas have different values, morals and ethical standards than you?

Recommended Posts

I have been pondering for two hours about whether I should post on this thread. I think I deserve an A+ when it comes to wasting time.

I mean, I can't really speak about morals just yet (friggin' vocality inconsistency), but I think we do have a few ideas when it comes to values and ethics.

Now, starting off with values, Céleste has made it pretty damn clear that we are different when it comes to the things we care about. A while ago, he was pretty similiar to me, but he.. Matured while we were away from this place. I am, as I always have been, driven by pleasure, independence and lust. Hedonism, really.

kinda embarassing to admit it but ah well

A while ago, I'd say that this was also the case with him, but..

A while ago, I was pretty excited about this theory I came up with, and I started to rant about it to him. About fifteen minutes or so, I got this jumbled visiual mess of a thought that was sent to me in tulpish: "Think clearly. You're drowning your judgement with momentary excitement. "

He also makes some very stinging comments about my actions. Am I getting stuck up on something that won't have any value in the long run? "Idiot." Am I fangirling and literally acting like a hormone crazed teenager? "Stupid." Oh, and also this one: "Are you sure you're a woman?" This one's meant to pick on my girlish behaviour.

He has shied away from being uninhibited, showing little interest in what we formerly were keen on.

He thinks before he acts, and this is something I am known to not do. Therefore, he just sent this to me, we're "drastically diferrent" when it comes to caring about stuff. I'm a bonfire, I burn very hot, but I die out very quickly. He's a small, steadily burning candle.

..I pay my fair price for the rush I get, he settles on what's best for the rest of the run.

Ethics.. Well, y'all know me. But like I said, he has really shied away and got into other things, like drawing, building and even painting. Such a scholarly fellow.

Yeah.

I sometimes wonder if we get the tulpa we need somehow, like our brain just knows what we need and helps go for that. BTW, nothing wrong with a little lustful hedonism.

Yeah, maybe. I didn't force Céleste's personality, I let it develop by itself. I think that is also a pretty big factor when it comes to what he acts like nowadays.

>a little lustful hedonism

>a little

Oh, how I wish it was only a little. ..But on the bright side, when one looks at the way I act and the way Céleste acts, they can see that we're literally two halves of an apple.

You sound like me. LOL We are still trying to figure out why that is. Mostly David thinks I am that way because subconsciously he wants me to be that way. It is exciting and interesting to him and so, that is the way I am.

That's probably true, at least in part. I know if my host didn't find my character interesting, I never would have existed as a soulbond in the first place. Same goes for most of us in here... the more interesting our host finds us, the more she tends to dwell on us, and therefore the stronger we are.

Kinda explains some things about Joss, yeah? ;)

Yesh, hee hee

Not anymore.

Seven years ago I was like I am now, minus all the optimism and positive life philosophy and the little motivation you see now. Instead of a humanitarian who believed all human lives were equally important, I was a "realist" who believed all human lives to be equally pointless, and saw humanity as a lost cause for all the corruption in the world. I didn't want to kill myself, but I saw no point in living either. Was a lot of fun.

I think the rest is obvious. Suffice it to say Reisen was then all I am now, and more. Her will was stronger than mine, and you can't live with somebody who thinks that differently from you for very long before one of you starts to change. It helps when they give you unconditional love, too. Reisen made the biggest initial difference getting me to think positively and give life a chance (or rather, she showed me it was possible to enjoy life in the first place without being ignorant), and then they've all contributed to my development as a person since, also growing with me. We've all got about the same morals and standards now. Values has some slight variation. They are not incongruent and fit together just fine, but everyone's got their own way of expressing our equivalent inner values. Reisen of course "values" unconditional love above all else, though it's more accurate to say she simply embodies it. Flandre values love too, but it's mostly focused on our relationship (and radiates elsewhere when she's happy). Lucilyn absolutely values fun above all else, undebatably. In some way I think it's comparable to a love of life, but basically her philosophy is that there's no reason to live if not to enjoy living. And Tewi agrees with all of us - as of now, I think she's working to feel the same way as Lucilyn. She "agrees" with us, but she doesn't actively express herself like we do, and she seems to lean more towards the fun side than love side. But of course, the two go hand in hand.

And I learn everything I know from them.

Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn.

Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

Oh my gosh, we have known people like this. I am so glad your buddies were there to help you change!

Naomi and Elise seem to have a much better sense of morality than Luna and I do, and Luna seems to tolerate more stuff than me in general. Prime example, I hate furries but she likes to interact with furry tulpas and enjoys talking with their hosts (apologies to anyone with a furry tulpa that reads this). That, and she's bi while I'm probably just an open-minded straight person at best.

Heh, it can be exciting, yes. The "interesting" part mostly depends on the person. Most people I've came to know outright called me out on it, buuut that's another topic for another time :P.

Made me laugh, +1 internet point. :D .
