oi-stein August 3, 2012 August 3, 2012 I hope you know I'm not in year seven guys. And well I guess I learnt something here today. Also, the "Big Bang" was two dimensions touching, and because they aren't the same shape, New dimension formed. Or so I'm told. Two p-branes. Not dimensions. You are misinformed. Om Mani Padma Hung
Kadoh August 4, 2012 Author August 4, 2012 God damn you internetz My opinions are all subject to change.
Sorryman54 August 4, 2012 August 4, 2012 1. Something can come from nothing. 2. Not everything is made of matter. 3. The projection of a thought is not physical. The only physical thing about thoughts are the neurons that are firing inside your brain. Actually, if you train hard enough you can trick your sense of touch into thinking iKs a solid object.
Phi August 4, 2012 August 4, 2012 Actually, if you train hard enough you can trick your sense of touch into thinking iKs a solid object. I'm not sure if that would actually mean it's physical or not.
Sorryman54 August 4, 2012 August 4, 2012 I'm not sure if that would actually mean it's physical or not. It would atleast to you.
NotAnonymous August 4, 2012 August 4, 2012 You are making some pretty big assumptions. ">you cannot make something from nothing" Why is there something instead of nothing? Your statement is very vague to mean anything, the words 'make', 'something' and 'nothing' are far too general and can mean many things, please be precise. A possible answer to the question is that "everything" already exists, but what that everything is is debated. >everything is matter Does that mean you're taking an eliminative materialist stance? We have perceptions that tell us we observe certain stable structures which we may call matter and which seen it obey certain mathematical laws as far as we could verify them, even if a sufficiently correct local consistent Theory Of Everything doesn't even exist. >thoughts must be matter Why wouldn't be thoughts just be thoughts? We observe that qualia is correlated with brain activity and thus we can make certain assumptions as to how qualia is correlated to brain activity. This does not imply any particular monist or dualist philosophy of mind, although some do look better than others given the evidence and the right heuristics used. Thoughts could just be patterns, but patterns in what? Information? Matter? Math? And yet even that might lack a certain ... quality to it. >matter is physical What does 'physical' mean? How can we even know there is a primitive physical reality? We can only infer its existence by induction and that has its limitations. How would we even attempt to define what a primitive physical reality even means? >Tulpae are thought forms Fine, although a thought isn't just a static thought, it has processes behind it that carry it out and it can work at many layers and very complex. There's a lot of work that will have to be done until one can truly understand how the inside-view in our mind arises and how it correlates with the outside view (the observed brain). >Tulpae are matter In the sense of the neurons and synapses implementing those thoughtforms, just like the neurons and synapses implementing your own ego, personality and memories. >therefore, Tulpae are real and in some way, physical. Tulpae have a physical correlate just like our ego does, but does that make it physical? It might make it patternistic, a pattern implemented in physical matter as to what that physical matter that we observe is, we can say even less, even if we observe the patterns that make us be who we are. Thoughts? Cute.
Santa Prime November 25, 2012 November 25, 2012 Short answer: Tulpa live in your brain and your brain is made of matter. Longer answer: As far as I understand it it is very possible that universes are created all the time from nothing or when 'membrane' collide. Subatomic particles are barley understood and researchers are working on understanding them better all the time. related videos: hope this is helpful
Kadoh November 26, 2012 Author November 26, 2012 Dammit no matter how many times I try and delete this whole thread, it doesn't work. IF IT DOESN'T DELETE: TL;DR I KNOW THIS STUFF NOW AND I AM NOT THAT NAIVE ANYMORE. Also thank you guys for the help My opinions are all subject to change.
Knapp November 26, 2012 November 26, 2012 Kadoh, you should switch back to your very first avatar, for nostalgia. Name: Philip Age: (7 June, 2012) Form: Male teenage human, light brown hair, green eyes, jeans & hoodie Name: Amalia Age: (15 Dec, 2012) Form: Female teenage fairy, black hair, blue eyes, white dress
Natasha November 26, 2012 November 26, 2012 Why do people keep changing avatars anyway? It just makes things confusing and the list of pony avatars i have blocked just keeps growing. De bedste og smukkeste ting i verden kan hverken ses eller røres, de må opleves med hjertet.
