Oh, I was under the impression that the whole point of hour counts was to set a timeline and compair yourself to other people, if that is not the main purpose then I suppose that it is not inharently harmful

I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much.

This is the first i've heard of it. Glad i came this year, seems a lot more free form.

We go by this very simple rule: Force everyday, even if it's a little bit. Cat doesn't use hour counts, but this is a nice little rule-of-thumb that works for us.

Note: I'm hit-or-miss activity-wise on this account. I may not respond to PMs for awhile.

I'm Ranger, GrayTheCat's cobud (tulpa), and I love hippos! I also like cake and chatting about stuff. I go by Rosalin or Ronan sometimes. You can call me Roz but please don't call me Ron.

My other headmates have their own account now, but it's outdated and I can't be bothered to update it

If I missed seeing your art, please PM/DM me!

As of how the whole thing started and where the first guys got their resources apart from Alexandra David-Neels “Magic and Mystery in Tibet” and other 20th century occultism and theosophy stuff - no idea. It's buried in the depths of /x/ and /mlp/, gone for good.

You could however ask the Irish, he did post recently so writing a PN might not be completely futile. In the end I guess it boils down to a bunch of crazy autists on 4chan doing crazy autist stuff which somehow took off and evolved into the mlp tulpa craze. More and more people tried different stuff and added subsequent parts like possession and switching but I wouldn’t know of older sources for these techniques. Veisssiere’s paper also doesn’t cover this.

As for the guides being outdated - they were created in a certain environment and for a community which doesn't exist anymore. Yes, most of it was unnecessary but do not underestimate the power of peer pressure. The reason it worked so well was that many others just did the same and it was really fun. Of course you could have done it without 90% of the stuff like orange juice or hour count - but whatever. I think the notion that any of this is harmful is just as much of a baseless claim as that it is necessary. It doesn't really matter, just find your own forcing routine.

In the end tulpamancy boils down to:

1) Create a character in your mind

2) Regularly interact with that character for a prolonged time

3) Get tulpa

That's all there is. Everything else is just icing on the cake. However the great value of tulpa communities back then was that they provided a collective experience that was really, really fun. That's a huge motivation. Just like learning any skill together with friends is easier than doing it all alone or a church makes a religious community stronger than just everyone praying alone. We are social beings and strongly influenced by our peers.

Sadly, tulpa communities have mostly died down together with mlp. People have moved on or do things in private nowadays.

1.According to an old post I checked on Reddit, the original material appears to have been kept at http://tulpae.tk/, but the site seems to need to change DNS to log in. I can't verify it. Do you want an adventure?

2.I should have written privately to the Irish, but as I've been digging through old posts lately, there's been a bit of a time warp. For example, I saw both info and Reddit mentioned that the Irish went to the army. I did find his farewell post (in 2012) and it's interesting to note that the active end of his homepage is 2017. As "modern" you, this aspect can give me a clear statement?

3.And finally, a summary of Tulpa that gives me a good idea, thank you.

Aggro today, huh Yakumo?

Hour counts were once toted as important, and so naturally people started comparing hours counts to hour counts. But those who ended up putting in more effort than those who put in less only to meet with less success became discouraged. It's not that hour counts themselves are harmful, it's that thinking you're guaranteed any certain amount of progress for any certain amount of time is. Some strong-willed individuals got extremely high "hour counts" with little success compared to the forum-goers around them and managed to stay motivated. But that's because they knew not everyone progressed at the same rate.

Counting how long you force is fine, and setting a schedule for when to force is fine. Trying to meet unrealistic hour counts for what your life situation allows, or comparing the rate of your progress to others, can easily become harmful. Regular, short periods of forcing are just fine. It was never proven that forcing for hours on end created tulpas any faster than forcing for just an hour or so a day. In fact, I think most people believe there's no correlation at all.

Intensive forcing like that may (as long as you don't overdo it) further improve your visualization, imposition and perhaps possession or switching skills. But from what we've seen over the years, when it comes to vocality and independence, long hours of forcing are actually counterproductive. Nobody ever hears their tulpa suddenly speaking 2.5 hours into a 4 hour session, on day 5 of those 4 hour sessions. But plenty of people do hear their tulpa suddenly speaking on day 5. Plenty don't hear their tulpa for a month or more, though. I simply recommend you maintain a consistent, yet not stressful or invasive forcing schedule.

In my experience, " hours counts " can be a bit misleading for many new people.

Anyway, that's good to know.

Aggro today, huh Yakumo?

Well, I'm trying. Things have improved due to Ido's influence but I'm still waay too nice!

I can't access tulpae.tk, you sure that site still exists?

In case you haven't already found it, we have a thread about tulpa history here.:

https://community.tulpa.info/thread-history-of-tulpae

It should also give you an idea about what this place once was.

Uh, okay?

The tulpae.tk site stopped existing years ago but it has been repeatedly archived on the wayback machine:

https://web.archive.org/web/20130704223009/http://tulpae.tk/

It apparently covers archives of tulpa related /mlp/ threads from 03/2012 onwards but not the earlier /x/ era. Still might be an interesting read, I don't have the time to dig through it at the moment.

Neat!

So i checked out the app habitica.  Free, minimal ads, no invasive ads, need an email to register, it links to social stuff, didn't get into that.

Kinda dissapointed that you could only have one habit. (Or I couldnt figure it out.)

Daily tasks and one time tasks, give you rewards. My poor little Misha avatar is going to die, cause my habbit of playing on the phone is rampant!

I think that you meant to post this in "is there a forcing app?"

I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much.
