Just because A is equal to B doesn't mean B is literally A and there's no reason to ever say B again because you could just say A. While hosts and (well-developed) tulpas are effectively the same thing (we call them "identities", but we have a slightly different definition for that word unique to tulpamancy/plurality), host and tulpa are still useful words as titles. They say who came first/has initial authority over the system and who didn't/doesn't. "Tulpa" also tends to mean you were intentionally created, or at least accidentally created, while host means you were the original in the system.

 

Well, there's been discussions on the latter, since we think a tulpa who perma-switched with their host and has fully taken on responsibility for the life (often because the original host is just actually gone) could be called the host if they wanted to - that almost never happens in tulpamancy and some disagree. It's more common in other plurality communities.
