NormalicyIsBoring September 5, 2012 September 5, 2012 Alright first thank you anyone who decided to click on this! :D So I first learned about Tulpae about a week ago when my friend told me about them. I thought it sounded awesome so i decided to do some research and after a few hours of looking up what they were, and how they worked, I quickly decided to make one. I just brought it up to the same friend and she told me to absolutely not make one. I asked why and she said something along the extent that our brains weren't fully developed yet and that trying to create a tulpa could be seriously harmful. This is what her friend told her about it but I'm not sure i believe it or not. Soooo onto the VERY important question, is there a certain age you should be to create one, and if anyone who's making/made one could tell me how old you are/were when you did would be awesome! Also, I'm 14, so if there is a certain age you should be, am i old enough? Any info would be greatly appreciated! :) It is not what you look at that matters, but what you see. -Henry David Thoreau ;)
QB2 September 5, 2012 September 5, 2012 Any age works. A young age or a "developing brain" would not negatively affect the process. The above post does not contain facts. q2's the host, QB's the tulpa.
Bin September 5, 2012 September 5, 2012 Logically I would wait, but I'd probably be too impatient anyway. You may as well go for it. Other than making a poor personality/form choice and regretting it in the future (not like you can't change it), I don't see anything harmful at all with making one. Like I said it would probably be a mature decision to wait a year or three but like I also said, who cares. no
NormalicyIsBoring September 5, 2012 Author September 5, 2012 Thanks, and actually i was going to leave the form up to my tulpa, and i was only going to give loose instruction on their personality. I'm sure I'll love it anyway it turns out! Right now Im just trying to plan out the best way to do it. I don't want to mess anything up. :D Also, what exactly should you narrate to them about? Anything and everything thats going on? Just talk like your carrying a conversation and wait for them to eventually reply? Ganathon September 5, 2012 September 5, 2012 I think it's more about maturity than age actually. I know 10 year olds who would be responsible enough to have a sentient thoughtform follow them around. But then again there are people in their late teens and early 20s here who think it's cool to make and evil voice in their head like they are an anime protagonist, and people who make ponies to fuck. So.... I'd say go for it. I would love to see how growing up with a Tulpa at such a young age would turn out. Just make sure that you have a strong grip on who you are, and a fair amount of self-control. You don't want your subconscious to bite you in the ass. Thanks, and actually i was going to leave the form up to my tulpa, and i was only going to give loose instruction on their personality. I'm sure I'll love it anyway it turns out! Just talk like your carrying a conversation and wait for them to eventually reply? Yeah. FAQ_man's guide is a great thing to follow, but for the most part do what feels right. People who are too strict on themselves end up accusing themselves of parroting and puppeting when it isn't, and people who are too accepting sometimes end up not getting a sentient tulpa. It's hard to find the middle ground so just go with what feels right to you. Luna Female Just gave up some hours at work. I need to have some relaxing time, and she needs the tulpaforcing.
Bin September 5, 2012 September 5, 2012 Oh no, you want to have specific points for the personality, if you don't have one it'll never grow. I mean, the personality IS the tulpa, I can't see it regretting it's own existence. I mean sure you can go without making it too specific, but if you do it'll just be you slowly, subconsciously making it anyway, so may as well get to the point. You can also go with whatever form you want as they'll figure out how to change it anyway if they really aren't comfortable with it. And yeah absolutely anything is fine with narration. The point is to exert the tulpa's presence thus boosting their consciousness. The tulpa won't even know what you're saying in the beginning. no
NormalicyIsBoring September 5, 2012 Author September 5, 2012 Thanks for the info, helps a lot! Nice to know people actually take time to read things and answer peoples questions here! :) It is not what you look at that matters, but what you see. -Henry David Thoreau ;)
WhiiteRussian September 5, 2012 September 5, 2012 I wish I found out about this when I was that age. It seems like it would be so much easier since the imagination is so much stronger when we are young.
Oguigi September 5, 2012 September 5, 2012 Do it while your mind is young and active cause it's only gonna get harder the longer you wait. pix: Link Diary: http://ponystasha.tumblr.com Koomer.
Pashoo September 5, 2012 September 5, 2012 Also, as long as you treat the tulpa as a real being, then it will be real to you. That's the whole point of narrating, in case it wasn't obvious. This also means that acknowledging your tulpa's existence in any way helps them to grow. Even just moving my laptop to the side a bit so my tulpa can sit next to me and read at the same time helps when I'm not actively narrating. An abstract, all-encompassing love is still a love, nonetheless.
