hey all, just got back from a 10 hour drive and i was listening to this audiobook about cold and frigid showers,
it got me interested because he mentioned something about bliss and a dreamlike state, induced by blood flowing deeper into the brain.
Anyone know anything about this? Apparently a university in Detroit did a study on it.

It's awful unless it's outside with a garden hose, then it's fun.

sounds like nonsense, but.. regular cold showers that don't give you hypothermia might be okay, idk, try it out

google says the only real bad thing is that it can temporarily raise your blood pressure, so not good for people who specifically have high blood pressure already

for us, we just turn the shower water to cold a bit before getting out so that it feels warm to get out instead of cold, but no reason to make the WHOLE shower cold imo

Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! I like rain and dancing and dancing in the rain and if there's frogs there too that's bonus points.

I think being happy and having fun makes life worth living, so spreading happiness is my number one goal!

i ironically have somewhat low blood pressure, its not anything crazy though, apparently it rises it due to the vascular system.

There are actually many health benefits to taking cold showers; it helps improve circulation, can improve alertness and metabolism, can even help your mood. If you don't want to take an entirely cold shower (which I don't blame you, I wouldn't either) you could take a contrast shower, which is where you start hot, switch to cold for a minute or two, then go back to hot.

I'll die before I take a cold shower. I rarely even use the cold tap.

For real though, that's kind of surprising. Wouldn't it be harder to think with the shock of being so cold? I guess you would get used to it after a while, but still...

It's not something you would jump right into for sure, you have to get used to it. But I completely understand not wanting to do it; it's definitely not a cozy experience, though Phil and I do find it invigorating from time to time. (We don't do it every day)

Not a cold shower fan. I particularly enjoy hot showers for working out stiffness and knots in my shoulders and neck.

His "spot" is right at the base of the neck between the shoulder blades. That's where he carries his tension. Darron also would only be caught dead in a cold shower. I have to prod him to do even warm showers.

Definitely not a cold shower person, I practically burn myself when I shower. Though I did try a cold shower once after reading about benefits from it, and I wouldn’t exactly describe the feeling afterwards as remotely pleasant. Personally, never again, but it probably just depends on the person for how they react to it.

Hey, I’m Illupepsi, I’m the host of my tulpa Rebecca.
