I guess you did your research to end up on this site, so good job. You might have tried making a campfire couple of times before to no avail, or you are just a cautious person and not trying anything new until you have a deep ubderstanding on the topic. Your reasoning does not matter, let me tell you straight: making a campfire is a commitment. You've probably heard somewhere that unless you are absolutely resolute on it you shouldn't make a campfire. I bet you've never took this statement to heart, since at most they just try to scare you off, without giving a proper explanation. But here I will.

To begin with, good news! The moment you've made the form of your campfire and lit it up with your fiery decision you technically do have one. But here's an issue. You see, without your attention, your little campfire won't make it. Especially in the early stages, the campfire can die in a matter of minutes. It is unbelievably hard to constantly keep something in mind, but thats what you have to do from this point on. All day, every day, until it becomes a habit. I also recommend you to never consciously ignore your campfire. This happens when you are trying to fall asleep and clear your head from any thoughts. Instead, put your sleeping bag near your campfire and keep watching it until you doze off. You will probably have a couple of restless nights this way in the behinning, but you will get used to it.

Some time later, your campfire will try to contact you back (likely due to hunger) and it is the most exhillirating feeling you can experience in this life. However, never forget that until your campfire becomes so big it starts a forest fire, you are its only source of food, and without you feeding it, it will eventually die.

I mean... I'm guessing this is an extended metaphor, and it makes okay sense, but it has some vaguely off-key implications. Fires going wild tends to be incredibly destructive. If your campfire becomes a forest fire, that's bad, and "you are its only source of food" makes it sound like your campfire eats you lol. And even the biggest forest fire burns out within weeks. But I know what you mean.

I prefer trees, you know, if you don't tend to the sapling it'll die etc. Trees also bear fruit (fruits of friendship and love ♥) compared to fire which destroys and takes in order to grow. And they grow and mature and have stages of life that last years, they put their roots into the ground and weave into the fabric of your life.

I agree the wording could be better, I had the same thoughts until I reread it.

I think the guide is fine otherwise. It reads a bit like a 'just do it' guide, but that's fine because you expect your target audience to have done their research on how to start one and all you're really doing is setting the groundwork for a specific mindset. If this was campfire.info, it would make a good tips and tricks guide.

Note: I'm hit-or-miss activity-wise on this account. I may not respond to PMs for awhile.

I'm Ranger, GrayTheCat's cobud (tulpa), and I love hippos! I also like cake and chatting about stuff. I go by Rosalin or Ronan sometimes. You can call me Roz but please don't call me Ron.

My other headmates have their own account now, but it's outdated and I can't be bothered to update it

Actually, when you get right down to it, that's a pretty neat metaphor.

Here's actual footage of me creating Simmie last year:

I hope the metaphor is extreme....If not, I really am in trouble. Life has imposed itself between Flora and me. She is not happy about it and tells me about it. She does not re-impose into my busy preoccupied life. (I have invited her to do so multiple times) I have had the experience of starting a fire. It is hard to do, and there is a secret, best taught by an experienced woodsman. It is doable. So is creating a tulpa. It wasn't as hard to get the first smoke as it is in the metaphor. It is getting her fully developed where my difficulty lies, and that I can put right at the feet of my wandering mind. Dr. Bob   (Flora, if you have anything to add, now would be a good time.!)

Should I make I campfire? Also, I already made a campfire and now I'm on fire. Is this a good sign?

This was Betty's account. Now we'll all use it.
