Great, the community making theirselves look like asses. Sometimes they can be difficult; and doing just a surface scan really wouldn't reveal a tulpa anyways. So lazy of them, to be honest.

They'll usually brighten up to new research. Also the IRC is generally more full of dicks than the forum.

How much could you tell them to get them interested without priming them as to what they're supposed to detect? If you say "scientific study", that would likely suggest something that you're thinking of, imagining, or have in front of you physically; but probably not an entity that is with you.

 

Also how much would the kinds of scans you request reveal?

You have to request a particular type of deep scan if you want them to do your mind. Normal scan is just what they refer to as the energy field.

I noticed their FAQ listed tulpas under "constructs", so

I used to think that they could be considered constructs, but I don't really think that applies any more. In fact, I should probably go and get some stuff written up for the community out there, get some things changed. If you're talking about PsiPog, that site is old, and outdated (since it's archived), so it may have some wrong information.
