Guest June 9, 2012 June 9, 2012 Like I'm saying in the IRC, this test just proves how similar our subconscious minds work. The details that you provide to him allows him to form something of very unique shape and detail in his own subconscious, ultimately to the point of you being able to think something and him guessing it; our subconscious thoughts are uncontrolled, so the thing is that you were pretty much going in the same patterns, even if you claim to consciously think of something else; that thought originated from your subconscious, so no shitty excuse there. You simply chatting to him is feeding him details to help build an accurate replica. How you write, how you think, and whatnot; every single fucking bit counts. He's subconsciously taking in that massive crapload of information you give him and forming one of the most accurate replicas we'll probably see on this forum right now. This test also just proves how well you know each other. Just imagine how well his replica could be if you knew each other IRL, allowing him to subconsciously analyze your every single move, expression, word, etc. and predict the next with extraordinary precision. My suggestion is that we call this method subconscious replication. "Psychic detection" is a big turnoff, especially in a science-oriented community as this. More people than just TOG with tulpae should try this subconscious replication so that he won't end up becoming the actual local wizard that he claims to be and attract ten times more circlejerking than Glitch already has.
Pleeb June 9, 2012 June 9, 2012 I surefire way to test your theory is to have TOG try this on someone he doesn't actually know. I have a friend who might be be willing to volunteer. Also, while I'm not as refined as TOG, I was still able to pick up numbers, etc, that he sent me, and I don't have a (sapient) tulpa; so by your theory, you wouldn't actually need a tulpa to do this. Guest June 9, 2012 June 9, 2012 Correct. This is something anyone's subconscious can do. TOG is merely just taking full advantage of it, with a bit of help from Clair.
Guest June 10, 2012 June 10, 2012 But what if someone used something like a random number generator or a random picture generator and TOG was able to read it? Would you be convinced then?
Guest June 10, 2012 June 10, 2012 But what if someone used something like a random number generator or a random picture generator and TOG was able to read it? Would you be convinced then? If they used a quantum random number generator and he was able to do it with a very high success rate, but if that was possible, there would be no point in securing any system.
Chupi June 10, 2012 June 10, 2012 If they used a quantum random number generator and he was able to do it with a very high success rate, but if that was possible, there would be no point in securing any system. Even random.org or other noise- or computer-based random number generator would be sufficient. Random.org uses atmospheric noise, which not even our best supercomputers can predict. And a (not-rubbish) computer-based pseudorandom number generator uses a complicated formula to derive its output from an unknowable initial state it gets based on microsecond-resolution time. Pleeb June 10, 2012 June 10, 2012 I posted this in IRC, I'll post it here as well: 11:18 <@Pleeb> Fede-lasse: I think I have an interesting way to test your theory. 11:18 < Fede-lasse> Yes? 11:19 <@Pleeb> What if we do a series of expariments, where I go to wikimedia commons site, get a random image, and TOG tries to get the image mentally? 11:20 <@Pleeb> Like, if the image ends up being http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HH_Stammtisch_04-03-2006_27.jpg << something like that, and TOG is able to point out that the random image is two people with glasses, blue jacket, or something? 11:21 <@Pleeb> (He wouldn't see the image, only me, and probably someone else PMed in IRC) 11:22 < Fede-lasse> He should not be able to know what the image is. 11:22 < Fede-lasse> But, go ahead. ThatOneGuy June 26, 2012 June 26, 2012 They were meh at best, possibly one of my worst scanning attempts yet. Although it does stack up to two successes, so I guess that's something. Orange juice helps with concentration headaches.
Vitalpae June 27, 2012 June 27, 2012 That's actually really interesting. I'd like to do a scan with you, TOG, and see if you can pick up the things I haven't told anyone about Xaine/what's changed since I drew him. Since I've posted a picture, and that picture has changed, I think it'd be an interesting challenge. Tulpa: Xaine Form: Humanoid Male But Tulpa are sentient, whereas your right hand...isn't.
