Fuliam December 20, 2012 Share December 20, 2012 My name is Fuliam, I have recently set a goal for myself, to learn time dilation. For this I need a basis, so I need those who have time dilated to please post here, post when, where, and if possible how. Here we will also discuss possible methods for time dilation. glitchthe3rd December 21, 2012 Share December 21, 2012 I can create very slight time dilation at will, but it's not enough to be significant. Fuliam December 21, 2012 Author Share December 21, 2012 What are you going to do, take a trip into space or something? I dont get it.. No, when we refer to time dilation, we generally refer to the ability of the mind to affect our sense of time. Which means in theory you could live entire lives in your mind in only a few minutes. imahaxor December 21, 2012 Share December 21, 2012 Couldn't this be accomplished through lucid dreaming as well? I've had a few dreams that have lasted for what seemed like hours, but they're pretty rare as I suck at lucid dreaming. Anyways, I guess you could achieve the same effect switching with your tulpa; depending on how time works in your wonderland. Yes, I have had lucid dreams where I live entire lives in a few hours, sometimes in a few seconds, but I was just trying to figure out a good place to start. waffles December 21, 2012 Share December 21, 2012 I have not done this, but this happens in normal life. In situations of danger, or if you're watching something bad happening, your perception of time may slow down. This is a survival mechanism, and I would assume that perception cannot be slowed much more than that due to limits of human perception and cognition. This mechanism could probably be triggered by a well-informed tulpa, though how I couldn't say. That applies if you're trying to slow down your experience of the real world, obviously If you're talking about switching out, the possibilities are much greater. As imahaxor said - and this can probably be confirmed by many others including myself - time perception in dreams is way off reality. While, again, due to limits of human cognition, you probably couldn't experience years in a matter of minutes or hours, but days might be likely. This kind of limitation would be more applicable to switching, but how one would go about it - and measuring it - might be somewhat difficult. Purlox December 22, 2012 Share December 22, 2012 I told you in IRC, but I will say it here as well. I just will it to happen like most people do when you create new objects in mindscape, give some form to their tulpa etc. If you're talking about switching out, the possibilities are much greater. I think I should note that one member (Clint or Stevie as he calls him/herself now) switches and has a mindscape where (s)he perceived years to go by in matters of real life minutes. Though, the said member says that it creates false memories rather than actually manipulating perception of time and I think it could be true in this case considering his/her method and also how big the difference in time perception to real life time speed is. This of course doesn't mean that changing your perception of time (a lot) won't work properly.
Sands December 22, 2012 Share December 22, 2012 I dunno, days always seem to go so fast and the next time you look at the clock, it's already past midnight... Kadoh December 22, 2012 Share December 22, 2012 I'm going to say it is possible, but speeding up your thoughts/processing can only go so far, due to neurons having to rest. In comas, though, time dilation is highly possible. My opinions are all subject to change.
