I was narrating a bunch of random, sleep-deprived thoughts I was having to my tulpa, when I thought of something a little odd. The way to kill a tulpa is to just ignore it, right? Is there a point where that becomes impossible to do, or where they can even kill you by ignoring you? Like, when switching or something? I'm not particularly scared of that happening, but is it theoretically possible?

You could say that.

Is there a point where that becomes impossible to do,

Schizophrenia - A good example. But not impossible.

Nah...

is it theoretically possible?

Again. Nah...

I don't believe it would ever become impossible for you to "kill" your tulpa by ignoring it. However, ignoring them after a certain point could be extremely difficult. It'd be like having a roommate that would never stop talking to you.

And if you want my honest opinion about whether or not you could die if ignored after switching, then it's a yes.

But that's because I believe that tulpas and people are essentially the same things. Consciousnesses. The only difference between them are the way they are created.

But beyond that, the reasons I think it's possible are a bit metaphysical.

Either way, no one can tell you for sure whether or not it's possible, and if my personal view on tulpas did happen to be wrong, then there's a good chance that it's not possible.

I'd still continue to stand by the possibility based on the metaphysical reason, though.

"If this can be avoided, it should. If it can't, then it would be better if it could be. If it happened and you're thinking back to it, try and think back further. Try not to avoid it with your mind. If any of this is possible, it may be helpful. If not, it won't be."

They can kill you in other ways than by ignoring you, too. Even if you are the host and the tulpa is a tulpa, the tulpa can theoretically stimulate your nervous system to the point that you die to shock. When they touch you, you essentially get the same nerve stimulations that you get when something physical touches you, so if they managed to inflict enough pain then there is a small possibility that you could die to shock.

I highly doubt that.

Deluded myself into believing my imaginary friends were real, then deluded myself into thinking they weren’t. Whatever the case, the OG gang’s still here:

Host: fennec (they/them)

Tulpas: Alex (he/him) and Kayleigh (she/her)

You can't kill autonomous consciousness just by not giving it attention, so even if you would switch and tulpa would lock you up you could provide yourself enough stimuli for your consciousness to survive.

Lot of things here are belief-based, so having a belief that something could kill will most likely result in possibility to die. Stay safe and assume that you and tulpas can not be killed or die in any way.

I know of a tulpa that can get his hosts attention so well he can't ignore him if he tried, so who knows, not many of the tulpas here can first hand experience this yet. But I doubt its impossible, its possible to be near impossible though I believe.

I believe anyone can die, or even lose the will to live if they're ignored. As humans, we can very easily aknowledge our own existance, so that's not a problem. In fact, the same thing could be said for a tulpa, as they can aknowledge their own existance should they desire to live. Switching or not, I believe if the mind doesn't recieve any stimuli, whether it's self caused or by another being, I'm willing to bet that the brain would decay into nothing... just like a tulpa would.

Buuut... if a tulpa could kill you directly through this means (and this includes switching) I do believe it is impossible for a tulpa to kill you with sheer will power unless you wanted to die yourself and the tulpa wanted you dead. It's so conditional, and so unlikely, that it's barely even worth mentioning.

Upon reading this thread, Amber has since joked that she will take over if I am ever rendered comatose or behave so stupidly that my brain is practically considered empty anyway. To quote her: "Squatter's rights!"
