Guys, I'm in a weird situation. I tried out some possession (letting a tulpa take over a part of your body temporarily) with Kaylee last night hearing it was a good way to bond with a tulpa and a way to make her more solid in my mind. I tried it last night, got nothing, waited for a bit, and (supposedly) tried it again in which she raised my right pinkie finger. Here's the kicker: I have no idea if the successful attempt was in a dream or in real life, and I have no way (as far as I'm concerned) of knowing for sure. I remember yelling after she did it, and my sister next door recalls me yelling gibberish in my "sleep" last night, which I have been known to do before. I tried it again this morning and it failed, and Kaylee isn't vocal yet. What should I do? Nothing like this has ever happened before.

You would be genuinely shocked to find out how comforting it is to be functionally insane.

I tried it too. Same reason, try to fixture the bond between us.

I told derpy she should concentrate on my right index finger and try to move it.

I visualized her sitting in the wonderland concentrating and i tried to relax my whole body.

So it was just me and her in the wonderland. I visualized her, because if it wouldn't work, the time wouldn't be just wasted.

I don't know how long i laid there, visualizing my tulpa trying to move my index finger.

But the moment where i was about to quit the session, my left hand jumped up.

I didn't try it after that again, but the moment was mysterious.

Maybe i try it again on the session today.

If my language insults someone, because of my mistakes, please let me know. I will work on it.

If you're unsure whether you're in a dream, do a reality check. For example, hold your nose and try to breath through it, or try pushing your left hand through your right. In a dream, you'd still be able to breathe, or your hand would go completely through the other.

Also, you're attempting possession before your tulpa can even speak?

"What should I do" is answered quiet simple: Keep forcing, preferably when you are not tired. Not only won't you fall asleep, but generally the training effect will be stronger, because a well rested brain just overall works better.

If you are interested in further reality checks to find out if you are dreaming: Read something (the time on your watch works well, as do book titles), then look away, then read it again. If the text or digits have changed in a non-sensical fashion, you are dreaming. Another way is to count your fingers (on both hands). If the numbers are off, you are most likely dreaming, too.

But don't look into mirrors.

I just got to ask, why shouldn't you look into mirrors?

There's no point in OP doing reality checks if he doesn't really recall his dreams all too well (presuming he has the conflict). The types of reality checks (hand counting, counting distorted time, nose plug reality check where you check if you can breathe) don't give 100% validity that the person can be sure they're lucid dreaming.

OP may be able to do reality checks, but they probably would only be lucid for a while, and probably not be able to stabilize themselves in the dreaming environment due to lack of control and getting used to the lucid dreaming state of consciousness.

This one was probably what he could remember because of the emotions of success, but not being able to know whether or not it happened in reality or in a dream.

OP most likely had a False Awakening, which is simply waking up and thinking you're back in reality again, only to be in a dream. And just when you realize it was a dream in the FA (False Awakening), it would probably be too late: You'd either have a non-lucid dream or just wake up from excitement or something.

If you want to reduce the chances of your uncertainty with False Awakenings and/or Vivid Lucid dreams that make it hard to distinguish from reality, you'll probably want to focus on recalling your dreams more.

1. Create a dream journal (notepad/computer/laptop/something to record on). Even if you did an RC, if you can't recall yourself doing it and becoming aware of yourself in a dream, it's almost pointless without developing your mind to remember dreams more often. (500+ dream entries with at least 1,000+ dreams recalled since June 2011 and counting :P) Of course, you don't have to go that crazy, but just saying that having a dream journal of some kind helps a lot in sorting out the distinction of dreams and reality.

2. Write anything that you can remember when you wake up, even if it doesn't make sense. Try it out for a few weeks and see if the dream of you doing the attempt (or anything similar) again works out. Try to be aware of the environment, how you feel, etc. Even if it's snippets like:

- Fire hydrant

- Forest

- Did Nose plug RC

It's something rather than nothing.

3. Check out LD techniques you can do along with WBTB (Wake Back To Bed), you should be able to find how-to guides easily on Youtube or a Search Engine.

But other than that, don't rely on reality checks too much, because trust me, I went so far into them that I even put 20 sticky notes in my apartment one time to do a reality check, and only had little success. Try to do reality checks a few times, not too much, each moment you do do a reality check, start questioning how you're feeling right now after it and question the reality around you. Presumably, with enough practice and better prospective memory to do RCs in your dreams, it can shift as a habit in your dreams and increase the chances of lucidity.

Try to use reality checks as a supplement, and focus on recalling your dreams more often. How you can do that just requires some time, devotion, discipline, and a little effort. And like the others stated, you should continue to tulpaforce, and get accustomed to being aware and awake if you get into a trance of relaxation from it (that can also shift one into a lethargic state and be more enticed to sleep or doze off)

Also, you're attempting possession before your tulpa can even speak?

I was reading a guide that said it didn't matter. She can speak, and I know that, but the way she talks to me is through ideas and not speech.

I made the mistake of looking into a mirror while lucid dreaming.

Half my face began to melt, and as I tried to run away my face would drag back to the mirror, as if it were goo.

That's why you don't do it.
