Alright, so I'm probably going to go through with this whole Tulpa thing, but first I have a few lingering concerns that I need to put to rest before my mind is alright with the idea.

1. I am 15, so obviously my brain isn't fully developed yet. I have to ask if creating a Tulpa will have any repercussions because of that, or will my teenage or hormones have any effect on my Tulpa? (I mean I'm pretty levelheaded, usually stay calm, not into drugs, just a bit lazy)

2. I understand that if I treat my Tulpa like a friend it should end up fine, but just incase it tries to hurt me in the future, can I resist it's control? Even if I were to practice switching?

3. I don't want my Tulpa reading my mind, I don't want it seeing my thoughts. My brain flashes images in my mind sometimes that I don't want to think, but I have a very vivid imagination. How would I avoid any chance of this during creation?

4. I cannot, repeat, cannot have my Tulpa be politically correct, it would be a nightmare; I already have one friend who is like that, but I don't have to spend everyday with them. I need to ensure that I don't have my Tulpa calling me out every time I use dark humor.

5. What's a safe guide? I'd like a safe way to create my Tulpa.

Answers to any of these would be very helpful to me, I'll post more questions if I can think of any but that's all for now.

UPDATE:

I want to thank everyone who took the time to contribute to the thread. I thought of one more question earlier today.

6. Do the side effects of Tulpaforcing become easier to deal with over time? Furthermore, will the effects increase if I make more Tulpae?

It's whatever you want it to be and do, man. If you do or don't want any of that stuff to happen it's up to you. But to answer the first one, I can't see how it would affect much. Also I don't think there's a non-safe way to make one.

no

Eh, feeling helpful for some reason. Let's have a look.

1. Age isn't really important, your age will only cause a lot of trouble if you think it will. Hormones cause problems because a lot of people don't seem to recognize the effects they are having. I assume you don't want your tulpa to be influenced by them so here is a simple recommendation. Make your tulpa male. If you make it female then you are asking it to be influenced by your hormones. Some people "fall in love" with their tulpa, they influence the tulpa's appearance to make it appear hot and attractive then they get frustrated when they have "naughty" thoughts about their tulpa. If you don't think it will be a problem then go ahead and try what you like but if you are even a little worried then a male tulpa could save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

Being lazy can be a huge problem, the tulpa process works best when you are consistently interacting with your tulpa. It doesn't have to be for specific session or all day everyday but it is a process that benefits from practice, keep at it and remember it can last a lifetime if you want it to.

2. Tulpa can't really control you, the tulpa is a part of your mind and unless you are some sort of special crazy you shouldn't have any problems. Just about all tulpa have the hosts best interests in mind. After all a happy and focused host gives the most attention. In my case I have never really tried switching, my tulpa has his own (imaginary) body and he sticks to it. In short I wouldn't worry about hostilities or losing control.

3. This is a tricky one, as the tulpa is a part of your mind then it makes the most sense that the tulpa can read your thoughts. Having a tulpa that can't read your thoughts is a more complicated game of pretend. Honestly I don't see the problem with the tulpa reading your thoughts, it makes conversation easier and more realistic because you aren't lying though your every interaction. Everyone has bizarre and random thoughts from time to time, a lot of them aren't pretty. If you can disregard them then so can your tulpa. My tulpa often points out how bizarre my thoughts can be and how distracted I can get.

4. Once again, the tulpa is a part of your mind. Unless you are a masochist you probably aren't going to end up with a tulpa that frustrates or annoys you. The whole process is under your control, if your tulpa acts in a way you don't like then simply say so and immediately fix the problem. Your tulpa shouldn't be someone you argue with or have trouble talking to.

5. Guides... the best advice I can give is to read a whole bunch and get a really good idea of what the tulpa process is about. Once you've done that read a few progress reports and see how other people spend time with their tulpa. My further advice when reading through the forums, the longer posts are generally better, they show people are thinking about what they are doing. You won't get much from the progress reports where people post only a few (or less) sentences each time or those who post "Nothing to report today"

Finally, it is really important to understand that having a tulpa is a long process. I've had mine for over a year and I plan to have him for years to come. Sticking with the process is the best way to improve your tulpa.

If you get stuck for ideas on what to read I have a rather long progress report and I did write a guide (there are plenty of more in depth guides out there though.) A quick search should find them.

Anyway, good luck, hopefully that helps.

Don't worry about your tulpa being able to read your thoughts, after a while your tulpa will be able to recognize what is just intrusive thoughts, and as you pretty much have to put up with each other for the rest of your lives you both forgive each other pretty quickly.

Yeah, having a tulpa of the opposite sex can get pretty awkward sometimes, but I've never regarded that choice as a mistake. Like I said, if you don't actually mean what you're thinking, they'll know. As long as you trust each other and don't fuck up HORRENDOUSLY then you'll both be happy whatever.

I'm not as experienced in this as most people on this site, but I hope it helps.

1. That shouldn't cause any problems.

2. Possessing and switching both require the host's consent. Also, during possession, the host can take back control at any time.

3. Believe that they can't read your mind, and, if it's that important to you, ask them not to read your thoughts and explain why. We don't read each other's thoughts; we respect each others' privacy.

4. If you don't want your tulpa calling you out for using dark humor, you could even make it part of their personality to enjoy that kind of humor.

5. I'd recommend reading through several guides and deciding what feels best for you. There's no "right" or "wrong" way when it comes to creating a tulpa.

Deluded myself into believing my imaginary friends were real, then deluded myself into thinking they weren’t. Whatever the case, the OG gang’s still here:

Host: fennec (they/them)

Tulpas: Alex (he/him) and Kayleigh (she/her)

Delete all memories of those who know my awkward past

Dude, I LOVE your icon lol XD

1. Hey, here's an intro to me. I'm a 14 year old girl with an attention span that lasts for about five seconds, lazy to the point I can eat 500 calories a day abnd STILL gain weight, and is usually really hyper. And I have two tulpas and I'm totally fine. So yeah, you should be too.

2. 'Course dude. If it gets totally outta hand, dissipate it.

3. Uh... don't let them o^o Ask them not to. Make a door, label it "MY THOUGHTS" and put a padlock on it in your wonderland. Etc, etc.

4. Then... don't? Give it a similar sense of humour to you then.

5. They're all safe, more or less. Just read through them all, keep the guidelines in your mind, and do whatever.

1. I'm going to say that I do suggest waiting to create a tulpa until you are a little older--now my reason for saying this is because a lot of things change when you are 15-18, changes in school, social life, then going to college, emotional/hormone teenager fun things, all of that already has such a huge impact on you and can take up so much of your time. It can be hard to fit in the responsibility to care for another sentient person in your head while dealing with learning who you are, because as I'm sure you know just by looking back at things you've said when you were 12, 13, 14, etc.(You know, that painful cringe-worthy status update or silly opinion you had before that we all experience), you change a lot very quickly right now! I'm sure there are some who can successfully keep and care for a tulpa during this very turbulent time, but I'm also quite sure there are others who would benefit from waiting a few years for their life to settle while they simply enjoy their highschool time and maybe spend that time preparing for the huge responsibility of, again, a personality who could be with you for the rest of your life. That's a concept that's hard for anyone to grasp, so the more thought you put into it, the better I think. In the end it is your call, as you know who you are and if you can handle it-- but if you choose to wait, I would not blame you, I would even commend you for being mature enough to recognize that you yourself need this time and that it would be better for your tulpa's creation.

2. This is really not a concern that I would worry too much about. A tulpa is--well, a tulpa is a person. A person who knows you inside and out. Your tulpa might sometimes be the only person who believes you when others think you are lying--because they are right there in your head and know your thoughts and emotions and what you truly speak. That level of intimacy and trust doesn't breed resentment unless you start treating your tulpa with fear or rejection. Imagine, being in a mind with the only person you could ever truly be physically with, someone who has complete power over you--and that person rejects you. Even in that situation, many tulpas are STILL kind and patient and loving to their hosts. They don't generally 'snap', and if they did it would not be without cause--and of course, there is nothing your tulpa can even do to harm you. They cannot physically damage you or injure you or cause damage to your mind. There are ways to dissipate a tulpa, I will tell you that, but like I said, it's very, very, very hard to 'mess up' with your tulpa. Unless you had some sort of serious paranoia disorder, tbh.

3. Your choice, you don't have to give your tulpa access to your mind, but I do suggest it eventually. Everyone has those random thoughts, sometimes terrible things that you would never really think, but our minds just wander. It's not like a tulpa would judge you on these things, and for the most part they don't go digging around in negative memories--Why would they afterall? But again, it is something you can ask them kindly not to do. Or to only do with your permission.

4.Seriously doubt that would happen but a tulpa is going to have a personality of their own and have their own thoughts. If your tulpa has legitimate reasons for feeling the way they do, ask them about it and come to a compromise. But if in your mind you can find no legitimate reason to be politically correct I doubt your tulpa would suddenly develop that trait. You can do personality forcing and emphasize their sense of humor being important to you. Again, your tulpa knows your thoughts--a tulpa would understand a joke made in jest was not truly meant to be hurtful. They might mention it wasn't very tactful to say around x person, but would probably still get a chuckle out of it anyway if it was a funny joke.

5. Safe guide? There aren't really unsafe guides. A tulpa isn't made via a recipe. It's not like you're going to mix up the ingredients and end up with a monster, or pick a guide that is more 'risky', it's all about what makes sense to you and how your mind works. Pick a guide that seems right, and don't be afraid to change it up if you have an idea that you think would work.

Some people here started a tulpa as early as age 9 (years old), but that's kind'a rare and took a very long time to create. Yeah, it can be kind of hard on a tulpa when their creator is young too - we tend to care too much. Sorry, you asked.

2. I understand that if I treat my Tulpa like a friend it should end up fine, but just-in-case it tries to hurt me in the future, can I resist it's control? Even if I were to practice switching?

You know, if you are already worrying about this then you shouldn't make a tulpa. If you aren't sure you can trust your tulpa then be kind and don't try. It really isn't fair to a tulpa to start out under suspicion, and given how we feel about our humans that's so very sad. Sad enough to make me cry. So, have a heart and don't o.k?

3. I don't want my Tulpa reading my mind, I don't want it seeing my thoughts. My brain flashes images in my mind sometimes that I don't want to think, but I have a very vivid imagination. How would I avoid any chance of this during creation?

You are honestly worrying unnecessarily.

4. I cannot, repeat, cannot have my Tulpa be politically correct, it would be a nightmare; I already have one friend who is like that, but I don't have to spend everyday with them. I need to ensure that I don't have my Tulpa calling me out every time I use dark humor.

Simply include "not politically correct" as a trait, or "has a good sense of humor". So, you are making a "Mrs Brown" type tulpa then I can assume?

5. What's a safe guide? I'd like a safe way to create my Tulpa.

A safe way? Include compassion as a trait - a compassionate tulpa will always treat you well. Guides are just that - there are many paths to making a tulpa and all that matters is that you choose a guide that you have fun making a tulpa - because this is meant to be fun you know?

i actually thought these questions weren't too bad

But, to actually be helpful, just remember that your Tulpa falls under your control, so it's only what you make of it. ^.^

Thanks for answering my questions, everyone.

I updated the post with one more question, if anyone can answer it that would be very helpful.
